Before heading to the States last summer, I hadn’t really spent a significant amount of time abroad. For that reason, my month meandering through the continent was an excellent opportunity to meet new people, try mouth-watering cuisine and, of course, make umpteen rookie errors – but learn valuable lessons from them, too.
