Happy New Year Dear Shaun,
Hola! It was so much fun to read your blogs about your trip to Ecuador. I just read them today, and it sounds like you had a wonderful time. The pictures are beautiful, and it makes me want to visit Ecuador again! The people are so beautiful, and the scenery is breathtaking! You, Pachi and Augustina look terrific and make a lovely family! The hike looked like a lot of fun, and I loved the picture of Augustina and her great- grandparents - a true treasure for Augustina. She is a beautiful little girl and growing quickly! I am sure it will be difficult now in TX w/out your family, so I hope these 40 days go by quickly!!!! Call us anytime!
Love, Jenny
love it, more.. more... Thanks for the entry and sweet Augustina's photo . Thanks for sharing your trip with me last night. I look forward to hearing / seeing more.
Coming back to Austin............. After a nice visit with your Ecuadorian family, leaving your wife and baby to come home must be difficult. Hopefully this will be sweet time for Pachi and baby to continue their visit. And you, Shaun, will be returning to a family that has missed you even though we have been happy for you. So, welcome home! Just think, you are about to be reunited with students, work and Austin!!. When I talked to Keara yesterday on the videocam, and I said that I missed her, she immediately said, "And I miss baby Agustina!" I do believe she does. Have a good flight home, my dear son. Love, Mom
Christmas in the Andes Shaun, how nice that you, Pachi and Agustina are having such a wonderful time in Ecuador bonding with Pachi's family and enjoying the sites. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. The videos and photos are wonderful. They provide an insight into this beautiful country. I am looking forward to seeing your photos and hearing about your experiences when you return home. You have been truly missed by all. Love, Walt
Andes travel blog Thanks for the great pix and narrative of your trip. You sure take some great pix! Sorry about the phone confusion, but I'll talk to you when you get back. Looking forward to seeing pix of the new year celebrations too! Best wishes for a safe, pleasant trip back to Austin. Love, Dad
It was indeed a colorful Christmas How much fun for all of you. I am happy that the new family of three could be there to share memories and events with the Morales family. What a colorful, celebratory Christmas! Ours was quiet, relatively but enjoyable in its own way. We had the traditional ham, special desserts type dinner. Amanda was our guest and an old friend from my past, Perry. While you were missed, we smile thinking of your fun adventures and times with family. Enjoy! We hope to see Aoife and Keara this upcoming weekend for a late holiday visit. They have been busy with their guest from Japan and riding new Christmas bikes.
Our love and best wishes to you, Pachi, our sweet baby, and the Morales family for a wonderful New Year.
Hi! Hi Shaun and Pachi! Pachi, I will keep you in my prayers and hope your health improves. As for the camera, I would be upset, too, if I lost my pictures, but I would be happy to be safe and still in China to take more pictures. At least you didn't lost the camera on the last day of your trip! I hope you had a great day seeing the terracotta warriors. Things have been really busy here, and my parents and Mathew (my nephew) just left after a week trip here. It was great to see them, but I have not been checking e-mail at all lately. I will read previous journals that I have not read yet tomorrow Thanks for sharing your adventures! Keep drinking lots of safe water!
camera shamera, no worries man. Keep on plugging away. May you continue to have an enjoyable time. Bless you Pachi, will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Travel sounds great. Sometimes there are hidden costs with ice cream products. Your house is great, will mail out bills this week. Love you dude and dudess.
yo! Shaun y Pachi, Hope all is well. How was the beach and camping? Where to next? Any decisions? Austin is hot and pleasantly calm, though my school work is heating up, still no word on a new job. Hope you got the video camera to work. What's up with a call to America for technical support... Hasta leugo. Ryan
Finally, computer available...... I have loved reading your enteries............enjoyed it all, especially the Forbidden City, the images of the sweet children and of course you and Pachi. Today is Sunday...where are you now? Wish I were with you two altho I have had a great visit with the extended family. Being here for 12 days, you go beyond the mere superficial talk, and get caught up in their real everyday rythmn. Robby is getting stronger each day. I have seen all the sisters which I loved and all the neices and nephews except Gail's who are in Chicago. Enjoy each precious moment together. Love to you both, mom
Greetings from the Eifel (Germany)!!! Looks like you all are having a great time. We are nearing the end of our trip and preparing to be dropped back into 'normal' life :( On the bright side, I have had a great time seeing a place that is different from anywhere I've been so far:))) I hope all is going well and I will keep up on your travels and maybe even add some comments! Keep showing the world how Austinites do it!
Hank...
Recent Pictures Shaun and Pachi, I am glad that you are having a good time. Your description of everyday life in China is very interesting because you show a side of China that you do not normally get through other sources. Also, I appreciate the photos. It lets me experience your trip vicariously. Looking forward to reading about your further travels. Love, Walt
Seeing a trend... Great to follow your journey to the big red Shaun. Compliments to you for setting it up and sticking to it --both to share with family/friends and as a memento for yourself and Pachi. Great start to the trip--launching from T.O. (if you're flying back through here...I insist you stop over at least a day or 2-longer if you can). The multi-media aspect definitely adds a great dimension. By the way, I will try to find out where an old friend of mine is at these days in China....he's been teaching there and doing business for 7 years now (update to follow). Hot here in Niagara still, just returning from a fishing trip and golf tourney and staying as close by the pool and a beer as I can around work. Jenny is doing great and we are having fun with Stephen as always. Can't wait to follow the rest of the adventure, good luck with everything and enjoy the offbeat path as well as the rest ---as you always know how.
Kiss to Pachi and thoughts with you both along the way........

my other cuz Thanks for the note, Jon. Hey, you know I like the variety of experiences. The last thing I want is to be one-dimensional!......Take it easy, and give a shout-out to all of the rest of the cousins and aunts......Your cousin Shaun
hey bro Thanks for the email and the well-wishes. It's so hot here, I'd pay to spend part of the afternoon at twin falls in lovely (and cooler) Austin, Texas. Good luck with school.....Love, Shaun
Grip and Rip Shaun, I gotta say that I didn't know what to expect after your first couple days in China. I will say however, that I am not at all in the least bit surprised by the your first couple days have gone. Beer Drinking champion of the world and humanitarian all 48 hours. I love the blog and I am excited for the next installment. I hope that everyday there brings new light and I hope you have the time of your life.

Beer Bruiser!! Hey Shaun, love the photos and entry so far. Glad you are having a great time. All is well on the home front. Nice day at twin falls yesterday, hoping that you can do all you want and that blessings and good chance blanket you. My love to you, the wife, James, and the Chinese people. Peace.
Mi amigo en Banos Ray, great to hear from you. Sorry I didn't respond sooner.....As far as being free to move around, travelers are pretty much free to do so with the possible exception of Tibet and western China, where I'm just not sure about. I think you might have to get a permit to do some of that, or maybe go with a tour group, I'm just not sure, I've heard different stories, and unfortunately I'm not planning on out that far anyways.....Take care, amigo, and stay in touch.....Shaun
Representing the Great Lone Star State Hey Micah! Yeah, I'm representing alright. Read my next blog when I gave a beer drinking lesson. The full visual (and audio) experience is coming, don't worry.....Later.....Shaun
Hola Teresa The only bed I've been in so far is the one we're using at my friends apartment, one sized right for westerners. No problems yet, although I'm anticipating having my feet dangling soon over the edge of a bed.....Keep reading and let's all plan on getting together when I get back.....Chao.....Shaun
hey cuz Good to hear from you Sarah! Well, I am jealous about the baseball game, and about the opportunity to get together with all of the family. I have some old pictures stashed away that I could contribute to your scrap book project, but I can't access them right now, unfortunately.....Thank's for your comment. Please, keep checking the blog.....Adios.....Cousin Shaun (aka, the Big One).
WELCOME TO MY TRAVEL BLOG!
I first experimented with this travel blog five years ago as a way to share travel experiences with a variety of people: family members and friends, students, fellow travelers as well as with some who prefer sticking close to home. I have done so while traveling in China, Mexico, and Ecuador, which is once again our travel destination for the summer of 2012.
I will chronicle the highlights of the visit/trip as well as share photos and video here on the blog. If you're interested, there is a way to 'join' this blog so that you get an email reminder every tim... full info
