Thanks for another great entry. I love hearing about daily life in Aceh. You look beautiful as always, my friend! PS I had my hair cut this week as well and guess what? It has been confirmed that I have a few white strands...
things you won't find on the "best of Ache" listing I understand the shock you must have had but does look good and is a good length. just don't go back to her for a dye job though.
hair cut Erica, I think all hairdressers are the same all over the world. I have never been to a salon where the hairdresser understands cut one inch. However you look fantastic with your new hair cut.
Fishbones Whenever Andrew grills a particularly bony fish, like mackerel, we eat it with chopsticks because it's easier to pick the meat off the bone. It slides right off. Yum. Love the photos. Tres Glamorous.
Bathing in the barrel Hola! I'm so glad to see a picture of the "barrel". I couldn't stop laughing after talking to you the other day...I was picturing you like a cartoon character dipping yourself in and out of the "barrel" for your daily bathing routine!
The pictures are fab - it is great to actual see how you are living!
Miss you. Love, L
Blog of the Moment Hi Erica, Love your stuff. I just made you blog of the moment on my Asia for Visitors site http://goasia.about.com. The iste is part of the NY Times company. Keep up the good work (both on the blog and on the ground). Greg
Thanks for the 411 A ha. I knew what your job entailed vaguely. Thanks for the details. Sounds like it's going well there. But my word, what a big expansion in manpower your organization had all of a sudden. That can't be easy to manage.
about time It appears that you are getting a handle on the job and that you are using all the skills learned to date and are learning new ones, great. It appears that you have in your boss, someone that you can aid you in your job. I'm still going to the gym, but took time out, 2 weeks, for Christmas and when I went back to the gym I gained 7 pounds. There is something wrong with this. We all missed you during the holidays, but you were in our thoughts. Lots of love, dad
for Muhammad Thalal thank you for your informative comment. Real gold or not you both look wonderful and your bride is very beautiful. i send you congratulations and wishes for a happy life together.
Hey lady,
Senid sent me the link (naturally...) to your site - it is so great and fun. I promise when I get back from my Africa trip I will chat with you from home - that is when I will get a cable installed at home, and we can Skype. You look healthy despite the Acehnese staple! I miss you here - the office is not the same. Take care, AK.
No class distiction at all Hahaha..truly there was no true gold on the bride. We just use imitation golds which can be found easily and very-very cheap at the local market. All Acehnese(except people in six districts) use this kind of clothes for the wedding. Aceh Province consists of around eight ethnics which have different languages and cultures. I am a part of the biggest ethnic living which dominates Aceh Besar, Banda Aceh, the North Coast except a part of east Aceh, and along the west coast except half of south Aceh. People live in Simeulue island, Central Aceh, and districts in South-East Aceh really have their own cultures and languages.
They sure have the right gal for this job! We are so proud of the work you do.
Missed seeing you at your party. My Mom was so pleased you called her. You are always so sweet, and thoughtful!
Sending much love,
Cousin Jeanne
