Erica,
I really appreciate your commentary. It's a fantastic resource to hear a realistic description of these camps. Like Deb and Lauren, I wish you could write more about your life there, and the pictures are wonderful.
All the best,
Gidge
Incredible Oh, Erica, you're having the kind of life experiences all humans should have. I wish you'd write more, post more pictures. I'm starting to get so upset that I'm not going to make the safari next month--even though I know it's a completely different experience than you're writing about here. And BTW, your apartment is gorgeous--didn't expect that! Looks like it could be in L.A. Strange. I love you, girlfriend. -Deb.
Wow! So interesting, Erica. I know you're incredibly busy there, but I'd love to hear more about all of this. Do you find your students in the Civic Education class receptive? Do they have different ideas about government than you? So many questions I want to ask.
more top rated photo's the photo's are just wonderful, all the natives with their beautiful colors, and esp. the childrens faces welcoming their rock star! can't wait to see more. take care, we miss you sooo much!!
love mom
Missing You It is a snowy morning here in Bedford, New Hampshire. I am enjoying a cup of coffee before making what will be a slow commute to work, and am thinking of my friend thousands of miles away...... I miss you and hope that you are doing well. I love you!
hi yes, I was talking about the pagodas and temples. They were all built by Vietnamese. The architecture is somewhat similar to Chinese but it's not Chinese, and you may see Chinese characters upthere but it is because Vietnamese used to use Chinese character to write until they were introduced to the Roman Alphabet. Feeling that it takes only a few months to master writing using the Roman Alphabet while it takes year to memorize all characters, they adopted the Roman alphabet as the official writing.
Powerless? Erica... howdy ho buckaroo! I see that you're finally over the robbery? Love this posting/photo collection. About the 'powerless' thing... isn't it interesting? Seems like they leave everything up to Allah (hence the saying 'Insya Allah'). Do you think that they think that their living situation is because of God's will? Anyhoo... glad to hear from you again. My blog >> [http://accordingtod.wordpress.com]
response hi guest, thanks for writing. i was not referring to the mustard buildings but to the pagoda and temple that i visited which were definitely built by the chinese. granted i only had a short time there so sadly did not get to see much.
buildings HEY. Did someone tell you those buildings in Hanoi was built by the Chinese or you made assumption of it? Well, either way, you are deadly wrong. They were built by the Vietnamese ancestors, all by Vietnamese. QuÑc Tñ Giám, Hoàng Thành, Vn Mi¿u...those are ancient buildings of Vietnamese.
Kudos and sorry Hey Erica, kudos for you trying to do something local. That's what I usually do when visiting new places *of course, never been to Nairobbery* I'm sorry for your loss... hate to think that your custom made salsa shoes are now masterless. How long will you be in States?
Long walk from brooklyn Hey darling - Sorry to hear about your loss- Shame you had to leave brooklyn to be roobed -I recently got a pair of tango shoes for the south american outing- but we'll talk about on new Year's eve...
LOST WELL ERICA LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AT CHRISTMAS IN YOUR NEW SHOES.IF I KNOW YOUR FATHER HE'LL MAKE SURE YOU'LL HAVE CLOTHES ON YOU BACK AND SHOES (COMFORTABLE) ON YOUR FEET.
Not the shoes! My heart aches for you, sweetie. I've been in need of new dance shoes myself (tap, I think). Maybe while you're in the city, we could make a shoe-replacement outing followed by a parasite-free lunch.

Good Luck! Hi Erica, I am pretty sure that you are the girl who responded my email for salsa class :) You ended up in Calang and we never met.
I learn that you will leave Aceh soon and head to Africa
Good luck!! Your blog is very good. Missed a chance to meet you personally.
Take care--Diella
I commend you I have a lot of respect for the work you are doing. I would love the opportunity to do what you are doing. Some of us sit in our homes just thinking of ways to help the people who survived the greatest and most facinating natural disaster in recenty history...But you and your collegues have stood up and done something. I appreciate the pictures you have shown us also.
Your parents must be extremely proud of you.
Keep up the good work

Great site, pics, and philosophical comments, especially people who talk on planes. Best of luck in Africa and hope you enjoy it as much as you did here. Hope you are getting better and stay safe.
Wow... ...suddenly I'm feeling a little envy of your experience. I love your list. Makes me wish I'd gotten to Aceh, instead of just meeting you in Vietnam. On to the next great adventure, and I'll see you there! (Or somewhere in the general vicinity.) Can't wait to see you at Christmas time!! xo
