History By the way, I really appreciate that you all make sure to include the historical and cultural backdrop to the places you visit - so fascinating!
So true... ...it's hard to know how to respond to things like the village of twelve families. My mom and I had a similar experience in Kenya with a remote Masaai tribe. The pictures are absolutely stunning - who knew a salt flat could be so beautiful?! And I am so glad you got in some sandboarding!
I'm moving with you! Absolutely gorgeous pictures - it sounds like a wonderful place! Erin, I'll be sure to visit when you buy your island :) By the way, your physical activity levels are super impressive!!
Ah border crossings and penguins! :) I am sitting on a bus from DC to NYC and thought of nothing more fun to do than go back through your blogs again (I love your adventures) and adding comments! I had to walk the border from Kenya to Uganda and recall it being strange. And the penguins, well, you know I am so happy you got to "meet" them!
Hi - I met your mom and dad in steamboat. I just met your mom and dad in steamboat. We had fun and also went to the mexican restaurant the next night. My boy are a junior and senior in college, one just getting back from Semester at Sea. I love anything and everything to do with travel.... i can't wait to read all your blogs. Where are your next stops? If my son was there, i will send you his e-mails with what he did in those places. It may give you some travel ideas. I had an experience swimming at Catalina Island, Ca with 5 dolphins about 2 miles off the coast- just in the wild.... It was so amazing!
I loved reading your first blog and can't wait to read the rest! Have fun! Pam Duley
sweeeeet! hey guys, just checking in to see if you left NZ before the quake?
SWEEEEEEET pictures. Berries, dolphins, sunsets, and funny looking creatures. Awesome.
Happy for them I enjoyed reading this article and the experience of people that knows how to appreciate beauty, people that seems to have a thirst
for life. I´m glad to hear that they had a great time in our country.

This was an amazing recount of a terrific experince. You both write so well, but I can always tell, without the obvious who is doing the writing.
I so love keeping up with your adventures and you both look terrific!

LOVE reading about how you navigate from one place to another...we all have that one groady tale of a less than comforting place to have to rest your head for the night. Ours is Death Valley...so gross you can't help but laugh at it. Looking forward to your travels in Peru. Everyone says it is a terrific place. Your photos are beautiful. You never want to leave a place you fall in love with thinking you will never see it again...
Love you and your pretty wife too!

Oh waffles :) I'm loving the entire blog (what beautiful places, amazing writing, and an incredible couple) but of course I had to especially comment on La Wafleria - too funny! Glad you are making time to fill your waffle with hot chocolate and other amazing treats!
Congrats on your marriage and travel Dane is driving in from Utah and 3 wks rafting in Grand Canyon. It's snowing hard here in Frisco, CO now. We've had an incredible start to our ski season.
I'll ask Dane if he has Patagonia advice for you. 'Good to see you both toting those big backpacks. You're troopers. Take lotsa pix. You'll enjoy the memories forever.

"curried squash soup" While reading your wonderful account of your journey in Blog 4, all that kept going through my mind is...really...Eli ate curried squash soup! I don't know my son anymore;))))))
How amazing to see flamingos, let alone in flight! The photos are beautiful. Some of the scenery reminds me a bit of the San Juans down around Durango. But then that is really the only place I have spent any time cold weather back country hiking/camping.
You two on this trip are so very amazing...thanks Erin for the blog updates, I will look forward to Eli's entry.
Love you everywhere, E2!
