the netherlands Hi, nice blog!
The reason why they call it the Netherlands, (simply Nederland in dutch) is because that's the official name of the country. Holland is just the name of the governing province, and i guess visitors to the country (especially english speakers) found it easier to use, and the name stuck. Nederland literally means 'low-land'. :)
Want to know more of Netherlands Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium and Austria are just a few names that have raised my curiosity. The sole reason for it is that I do not have any idea about them and have not read much about them. I hope through your blog, I can get to know about Netherlands and its capital Amsterdam, which is I believe is famous for canals. Waiting to see more blogs on European destinations from you.
Thanks,
Christine
Hi Everyone, Sounds as though you are having a few challenges. I am sure you will all become familiar with European travel, a lot different to home in NZ.
I enjoy all your blogs, but don't get to answer them all, as I am extremely pressed at the moment time wise.
I am working three mornings a week 3 hours a day. Really enjoy getting out, only doing irong and housework, but who cares, it gives me money for holidays.
All good here, a sunny day today, first one in months. It is awfully hot and humid though, 32deg and 80% humidity, roll on winter.
Love to all Aunty Glenys, keep safe !!!
