Hot! Now, 105 IS a lot cooler than 123, guys. (Give me a break here. We didn't go to the desert in the summer, though except when we moved to GA in August & drove across the Mohave in a 1960 Ford with 2 young boys & on air conditioning except rolled-down windows.) You should find the coastal plain much more pleasant. Don't miss the Pacific! The seal rocks in Laguna Beach (my fav place--try Victor Hugo's near the main beach for food or just the view) or if you head south, in La Jolla (entrance is inside a tourist trap just off the north end of town & takes you thru a tunnel right down ONto the rocks!) Definitely try to drive up the coastal 101 to Santa Barbara, Moro Beach, The Redwood Forest to Hearst Castle, 17 mile Drive in Monterey & San Francisco if you can. Some places on Earth may equal that in beauty, but doubt that any can surpasse that admittedly long drive. BY THE WAY: Heard on the news that people were advised not to go barefoot in the desert today due to the extreme heat.
HOT Since I have no air conditioning, I'd prefer that dry heat which begins to abate after mid-day to this Southern humid heat which continues to increase till after dark. (This morning I could hear that *@#! possum that tore down my ductwork, snoring in its cosy home under my fiberglass bath tub. Grrr....)
Shipshewana Just got back from Shipshewana, Ind. They had turquoise on sale for $5... what ever you wanted. Should have bought the girls some there from you... haha... they never would have known. I can never go to Az. without buying their jewelery. I love it! But seldom wear it when I get home.. whats up with that?
Arizona I do recall the Wigwam Motel & the Arrows. Have always liked Winslow for some reason. Hooray for going to the meteor crater! I've flown over it several times, but that's as close as I've gotten. Thank you, Angelo, for being a patient sort. Love you!
Through Santa Fe! Great pics - glad you enjoyed your short stay in Santa Fe - you hit many of the high spots!

Grand Canyon Have driven past the Grand Canyon about seven times, always with a man who was in a hurry, so have never seen it. Lately, I've heard several people say "What's the fuss about? It's just a big whole in the ground." Is this a line from a recent movie or something? I'm still hoping to see it some day. Continued pleasure on your idyll!
Trip Am enjoying all your post. Andrea, how is you face? Did you see a doctor?
You guys are having a great retirement!!!!!!!!
Keep moving, it keeps you young.

Jewelry Buy some turquoise already!!! That's silly. You'll wear the earrings, and they're small. If you can't buy them for yourself, you can buy them for your daughters. :)
Albuquerque Always liked Albuquerque & there is (was--it's been a long time since I've been thru there) a really good Mexican restaurant across from the railroad tracks in Gallup--actually, now that I think of it, EVERYTHING is (was) across from the tracks in Gallup. Love ya. Hope you're havin' a great time!
Don't know what the road surface was like in 1945, but do know that my folks were towing a tiny sleeping trailer (think I have a snap shot of it some place) in which they had stashed all the worldly possessions they didn't want to leave behind in NY. Unfortunately, they kept having flat tires on the thing & soon used up their post-war tire allotment. So that little trailer & more of their cherished possessions got left somewhere on RTE 66.
bumps on face adult acne. Very late puburty zits. Maybe drool bumps. Could be ugly crust pie markings. Crud. bites. Heat rash. not to be confused with diaper rash. you asked for it....please keep us posted with pictures on this one. I'm just loving this!
