What You Missed! John, just wanted to let you know that today Toronto is setting a record - a weather record that is. This is the first November since records have been kept that TO went without a snowflake! Awesome!!! You should have been here....really. People are still golfing.
I hesitated sending this message to you realizing that you're there when you could have been here but since you would eventually find out when you got back I thought it best to prepare you for the shock. Please don't think for a moment that I'm being insensitive. I really do have your best interests in mind. At least this way you can plan to be here next November and hope for a repeat. Experiencing this seems much more interesting than all those dreary days you've been suffering through.
Don't worry, you can thank me for the heads up when I see you at the club. Keep your chin up you'll be back soon enough;-)
Dave
too funny John, I love traveling with you!! I feel as if I am watching a movie when you describe some of what you have seen/experienced. Keep it coming!!! We look forward to seeing the pics!!! Happy trails!
Hoi An Your travelling gets more and more enviable. When in Hoi An you might enjoy visiting Karma Waters http://www.karmawaters.com/
We happened on it while cycling to the beach and never made it to the beach. It was a lot less sophisticated then but it still looks like it has a lot to offer. Please remember Bob and I to Paul Tarrant and his wife and daughter Sarah! Incidentally bicycles are a good way to get around and away from all those pesky tourists. No ascents and descents too.
Keep having a great time.
Sara
Jealous Okay it doesn't sound like your staying at any Four Seasons, but it still beats sitting at my desk pushing stocks.
I am so envious of your adventure.
Stay healthy
love the Blog... Hi Faris! - Love reading of your wanderings - and of the many interesting people you are meeting. Look forward to your return - and more anecdotes. V pleased to see no recent mention of knees, shoulders etc! All well chez Anderson. Just back from 1 week in England and saw Jocelyn - in v good form. a mini trip by your standards ... but I'm not sure the cards have a long trip on the horizon for us - so we'll enjoy your travels vicariously! xo, Pats
Enjoy the weekend Hi Sharon..enjoy the new floors!....the place is pretty barren as you will see but at least you're in the Beach and close to Ed
Enjoy!

Everyone seems fine.
Enjoy the next part. So happy for you you're strong and getting to fit in all your plans. Take good care now. Hugs, gill
Just received your blog for first time today, how unfortunate that you were not feeling well to complete that portion of your trip. It sounds as though you are able to venture elsewhere, your strong like bull as they say. Be well and safe and looking forward to reading your blog and seeing you on your return with the McChesney's.
face masks John,
The trek around the Mont Blanc looks to me as a walk in the garden, compared with your actual hike.
Your diary is superb and the guidance is very useful in case I should do this trip once (next year ?)
Please enjoy your further escape.
Guido (Belgium)
PS 1 I presume that we can see lovely pictures in a future ?
PS 2 In Japan one told me that face masks are worn motivated by (kind of ?) religion habitudes. When one has a cold he/she may not contaminate other people. Feasible ?
Impressive hiking!!! Hi John,
Sorry i haven't written back before now but I am really enjoying your trip vicariously - don't think I could have managed the cold with no bed but your adventure and scenery sound incredible...someday maybe.glad to know you are in good health and take care of the knees - you'll be needing them!
I have pretty much finalised our trip to Argentina and Chile and really appreciate your suggestions - in particular, getting right on to finding a place in Bariloche as there were hardly any places left,so thanks. We are very excited about the Bio Bio trip and then are renting a car and travelling through National park and back up to Bariloche for a few days to swim and hike. Christina and I will have Dec. 30,31 and Jan 1 in Buenos Aires but Billy will likely stay on with Bio Bio to do some more training and HOPEFULLY at some point all this will end up in an actual paying job.
Billy is currently in Mexico for last month of his training - loves it. Staying with a Mexican family in a thatched hut in a small village and speaking only Spanish, which is great. He says he feels really good and also happy to be where he is so I am thankful for this.
Work is a disaster with these 2 guys fighting and I am not actually sure what space I will have to work in so just have to wait.
I am off to Toronto this week (Nov.13th) and Ed said your floors are being done so thankyou again for the B and B.
I will update you after T.O.
Take care of yourself and love the travel blogs, Love, Sharon.
Comment on Made it over the Thorong La Pass That sounds like quite a journey...Enjoy the rest of your trip. What an amazing experience.
Would love to get together when you get back, before you take flight again.. seems to me retirement is not so bad!!!
Sheila
Amazing tales !!! Great to have made it to a height similar of the Everest base camp (which I think is higher than anything in Canada)
Guest H1N1 isn't affecting you on your trek. It sure is front and centre here. All of us are well, just returned from a short stay in Vegas with Liz. Will be making shortbread soon and will make some for you and family this year.
Keep the blog rolling .
All the best John, safe journey.
Well...thanks for the view It is blowing 40+ knots here in Kodiak with angular rain coming at me while letting the dogs out for their morning sprinkle ...and dark. Nice to come in and hike along with you. Thanks for the narrative....glad you are well and over the pronounced hump. tom k
love these!! Your journal entries (my first blogging experience!) define vicarious for me. All sounds really like a trip of awe. Remember those knee pills though! Look forward to seeing some pics upon your return. xo - Pats
