I'm getting rested after being hung up on a tree floating in the river. The river kept sucking me into the bank, but I finally learned how to navigate that tube and stay in the middle.

Karen looks so relaxed. Dad looks like he's soaking his hemorrhoids. :-)

I hope you took lots of pictures! We're in Cuenca now for 4 nights and then we really do need to find some sunshine. You know the photos we took of each other at the secret garden? Somehow some not-too-bright photographer deleted them. Coul

I need a little sense of perspective on the grasshopper and tarantula photos. I can't tell if they're an inch or as big as a football. I'll assume they're as big as a football since it makes a better story.

Those are amazing photos. you are a bit too close to that spider.

Incredible! Reminds me a little of the Dominican, it never stopped raining while we were there too. You are amazing. I hope I'm as crazy and adventurous as you when I'm your age!

Jeff--I'm not sure we felt real adventurous. There was a whole lot of stupidity going on in parts of that pasao, but heck--whatayagointa do?
3rd February 2012

The cockroach was about 3" but the tarantula was at least as big as a football.

I'm so far behind on this blog. Yes we did the jungle and had a "memorable" time...more later on that. The important part is we didn't come back with any broken bones!
28th January 2012

Thanks. It's off to the jungle tomorrow!

Agnes--you'd have laughed watching us try to find the entrance to that thing. The funniest part was another couple at our hostel had the same problem, only they never did find the entrance!

Your writing is very evocative. People should be paying you for this. That photo of Quito at night is quite remarkable. Each section has something that draws my eye to it. Beautiful.
