Your visit to the Schools The USA could use a Educational System to model after. Have you thought about e-mailing this Blog to our State and Local Goverenment; Since it is ELECTION time!
the great fire wall of china Well the great firewall is an way for the goverment to limit the availability of information that is available for the people to see. ther are guards tha watch people in public areas and the Chinese goverment has asked Yahoo Google and other providers of internet information to help limit the avaialbility of the restricted source to the people of china. i would not want to live in a place where i had no freedom to look at things in te=he proivacy of my home for fear that the goverment would arrest me and put me in jail. Witch does happen because of the people that sit in a room and their job is to monitor what other people are doing on the internet. Who said the internet was a free source of knoledge?
Great Job. Bambi,
Nice work on your blog and journal! It brought back some great memories. I appreciate your perspective, facts and pictures.
Best,
Peter
maybe some learning hee what are the stats on drop outs and other negitive things that we face here in the US? or are most of the students just thankful to be in school?

WOW! Just to see and touch and say been there seen that and have a T shirt to prove it. Isn't it amazing how different we are but how much the same. thanks. GBY
Shanghai Wow! I had no idea Shanghai was one of the largest cities in the world, however it doesn't surprise me one bit! Glad you are recovered from you jet lag! Welcome home!
most interesting Bambi, I thought the moist interesting place you traveled was to Beijing. You got to expeirience first hand the Great Wall of China as well as the Ming Dynasty/tombs, and the Tenanmen plaza and the Forbidden City. I hope one day I can travel those same roads!!!
Beijing Your visit to Beijing sounded to me like the most interesting. I think it would be very awesome to visit The Great Wall of China, The Mong Dynasty, the Tenanmen Plaza as well as the Fobidden City. I hope to travels those same roads one day in the future.
Hummm this is so interesting... thats amazing how different cities are that are so close to each other... From modernism to poor. I learned some chinese today when you said what hello, no, and thank you was in Chinese. just from you describing the alleys and the smells makes me want to go visit so maybe i will get the chance to one day!!!
WOW Wow...thats amazing i had no idea that there educational system is that much different than ours here in the US. It is so interesting that they take a test to determine what and if they go to college. i also found it interesting that they teach English everyday! thats quite impressive. Well have fun on your boat ride.
MA Program Director How exciting for you. It is neat to read all about your travels. Plus getting involved more with blogging. Have a wonderful summer. See ya soon.
Schools It amazes me how differant opinion can be from one country to another. I think the reason private schools are veiwed as better here is they cost money. We, Americans, think money means everything. In China, they see public as better because it is government owned. Thats cool.
Very Nice Hotel I bet you are loving that hotel. The fact that they pay someone to push the buttons for the hotel is unbeleivable. I would love to see any pictures you have of that hotel; it sounds like a rich persons type place.
School I can't beleive they are done with school in grade 9. I guess they push their students harder than we are pushed. They do have longer days than we do. But still, I would have gone for longer days if i could have been done in the 9th grade!
No Students Held Back I like the idea that no student is held back because of the EOG (which is only 1 test). It is great that instead of making the students that didn't pass the EOG redo a whole years worth of work, they receive help that they need and move on.
Such interesting statistics I find it so interesting to hear they learn English each day. It's not like we learn Chinese, each day. Hmm....that is one to ponder a little more....
I'm so glad you are having such a blast and learning and seeing so much. You've been terrific in getting all this info to us and sharing it on this travel blog. Awesome Job!!!

Discipline
Our schools could use a more discipline, and our teachers more pampering.
