Holy snap! I just bumped into you travel blog, this is Sam from Sunnybrook. I can't believe you are still traveling across Africa! I'm in shock and I admire your courage and spirit of adventure.
I guess you weren't kidding when you said you like the outdoors and you will likely 'travel a little bit' after grad.... holy snap!
Take care

envious in toronto It is so wonderful for you to share your adventures with those of us not brave or fortunate enough to have them. You are a shining example to us all. I think it is so important that you tell with the world what how welcoming and generous people are in Africa. They put the rest of us to shame really. It seems that wealth and material things bring no happiness and just shut us off from the rest of the world until we lack any compassion. With everything that is going on in Canada I often lose all faith in humanity but your stories restore it. I cannot say often enough how proud I am of you. Much love, Jenny
The adventure continues Well, sounds like you have now seen the heart of Africa, with all the good and some of the not so good. Heed (at least some of) the advise that the friendly strangers you meet are giving you, and look for wisdom in unexpected places! May your travels take you on more amazing experiences with, by all of your accounts, some of the friendliest people in the world!
With love your dad, be safe :)
Alex Thanks for the message, you always heve great comments. I will try to respond to your last comment in my next blog - Ive kept the questions in lind when Im talking to villagers :)
Thanks Hakeem. When I ws there I thought about you and those great storytelling speeches you used to give. Read a few of Chinue Achebe's books and picked out a few similarities - you learn from the best! I liked Nigeria a lot so maybe we'll meet back there someday!
i am highly impressed Hello Alyssa
I found your travel expedition from Rebecca. I am highly impressed. I will be back in Nigeria in September, so if you go back I would love for you to visit. I wish I had seen you when i was home recently!
I wish you good luck!
Hakeem
Beautiful Hey Alyssa, you paint absolutely beautiful pictures with your passionate prose! Cameroon sounds (looks) beautiful, I can understand how you might stay a little longer. tsk tsk. I'm so happy right now, huge grin looking at these pictures, sitting here in the middle of the night saying "Look at her living her fucking dream! So awesome" out loud. (same thing happens every time I read one of your posts!!) (sorry for my filthy mouth, I'm working on it...)
The goat is cute as well, very nice of you to give it to a young orphan in need, although I wouldn't expect any less from you! Definitely going to look into gmmafrica a little more when I get a chance later this week; I sometimes find it hard explaining to friends that a couple beers and a day's lunch can put a child through school (among other positive allocation of ones' disposable resources)... I've actually been researching some additional causes to support this year and I'd love to support a program in your honour if possible (let me know if what other ngos, or community organizations that you've come in contact with/support that I should be made aware of)
Thousands of miles away and still got the party girl in you eh! hahaa, awesome. And now you've been put up in a mansion?! Not bad, butters, not bad.
I send my love and support out to you wherever you are reading this right now, trust that you are in my thoughts, you are missed - but I don't want you to come back (you know what I mean :). Stay safe and healthy, filthy and adventurous, passionate and curious, eager and open to new experiences. I wish you nothing but the utmost degree of happiness and fulfilment (in full honesty - with that face I used to have when we'd talk about your future) I look forward to reading more soon!
You just made my night.
Love you, take care for now Alyssa

A Pride Alyssa, I can see from your write-up that you have been enjoying yourself and collecting a lot of data to an expert on African culture. I do hope you will put all these information into a book when you eventually return to Canada. I reall admire your boldness to undertake the tour. You are a pride to not only your parent and grand parent but also to us who are close to them. I was hoping you will give Mrs. Akinola a call when you were in Lagos. Happy travelling!
