This weekend, we met our friends sibilings. They were extremely nice! We just hung around the street called 1912, I was very tired and went home earlier each night this weekend. I haven't been sleeping well I am not sure why. Maybe its my excessive amount of Big Macs I have been eating. (I gave up McDonalds for the rest of the trip. & American food. Its way to expensive, I found street food that I enjoy. I am absoluetly shocked i found something i enjoyed! baozi (0.8 kuai), fried bread(1 kuai), & a ... read more

the other day we went back to the confucius temple to go shopping! shopping is so addictive here because it is so cheap! afterwards, we went to the midnight showing of HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE!!! & yes IT WAS in ENGLISH! ahhh so unbelievably happy! heck yes i saw it 13 hours before you! excellent movie, i CANNOT wait until the seventh movie! The next day, I, of course, was completely drained out of energy. Our teacher from home set us up with a English teacher here & her students. We went with them to a Western restaurant to hang out. It was very nice. After that, the program took us on a field trip to the Dr. Sun-Yatsen Memorial. We had to walk up 394 stairs to get to it! it was ... read more

This weekend we went to Shanghai, we took the bullet train which is a train with no wheels. It got us to Shanghai in less than two hours! We had made reservations at a hostel, it was very cool. There were 12 of us and we got 6 bunks beds in one room! We stayed there for two nights, costing us about 7 dollars a night! It was tons of fun having everyone in the same room together! The first night we all got ready and went out and experienced the night life. We went to a disco called Muse! It was a lot of fun, we saw a few Americans & some Europeans too! It was a lot of fun, so fun that we stayed til 5 in the morning! We got a few hours ... read more

The other day we actually went to the mall here! It is soo different from America. You take an escalator underground & all the shops are all underground. Each shop is like half the size of kathryn's room! its so crazy & you have to bargain for things! So manyyyy stores, it was very very cool!& completely inexpensive! The past few days I have been just relaxing since we are going to Shanghai this weekend. I have my first test Monday on the characters! ahh! Other than that, nothing is really new. I tried chinese papa johns, it was a tad different than America haha I also had cheesecake at Starbucks here, hoping to get a taste of home. Ni hao :) That was an extremely long flight, but not as horrid as i thought it was going to be! I arrived in Shanghai around 1pm (China time) where my professor met up with me & the other girls from valpo. He rented a van to pick us up in to take us to Nanjing. The ride from Shanghai to Nanjing was about 4 hours or so. So we arrived in Nanjing around 5:30pm. Then we checked into our hotel, there were three of us, so I decided to be the one with the random roommate. She is from Korea & is my age. After we got situated, My professor treated us to McDonalds! Yum! The next day we registered for classes and walked around for hours, my legs are killing me. We went to ... read more
