Redwood City Nice blog. I'm glad you liked the redwoods. We have a cousin, Anne Vaughan, who lives at 2 Sequoia Way, Redwood City, which is in San Francisco Peninsula. I suggested that they should name the house The Wellingtonias (this being the English word for redwood). I didn't suggest that you look her up as she is in her nineties and has lost her marbles.
A chum of mine, who lived in Sausalito, committed suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate. It was a huge tragedy, and I still miss him. It is a favourite spot for suicides, Americans not being very original.

america im glad your having a nice time on your 'journey'. in vancouver we stayed in a posh hotel called the metropolitan. We saw gary oldman walking out of the hotel.{if you dont know who he is ,he is a famous actor who played dracula in the movie dracula}.Glad you found the cheese cake as we loved it.stanley park is so fun!And the aquarium is amazing especially the dolphins and the whales.did you really see barrack obama?WOW!{which means walk on wednesdays if you dont know}Was the flight museum fun it sounded it.what was it like to be near big active volcanos? was it scary?Well thats all from me folks alex is over and out.
blogissimo A very good blog. And just in time as we were all about to die from Blog Deprivation Syndrome (BDS). Quick thoughts:
- How can you get lost in a park? Yosemite Park yes, but not Hyde Park.
- Is it very hot, if you are missing air conditioning? Normally Canada is under four feet of snow. However, I met someone just back from Moscow where the temperature is 40 degrees and nobody has ever heard of a/c.
- Nice of Obama to turn out to greet you. He was presumably told of how you had studied the U.S. presidential election.
- I have a friend who lives in Richland near Mt. St Helens. The street is called On The Green, but after the eruption it was changed to On The Grey
- Look forward to seeing you soonish and hearing more.

Awesome New Zealand! Hello Sam! Aunty Katy here. The boys have finally let me see the blog, and get a chance to write a comment or two. Thank you for your congratulations on the bungy. It really was brilliant, bungy jumping. It'll be something for you to look forward to when you get a chance to come out and explore the South Island. We met quite a few British and other young people who were working in Queenstown, doing ski, bungy and jet boat related work, and even a few working in supermarkets but clearly all enjoying their months in NZ. We have been amazed at how incredibly good the New Zealanders are at keeping tourists happy - and providing the most amazing adventurous activities for them. You New Zealanders should be very proud of yourselves! Love, Aunty Katyx
4 out of 5 ain't bad Hi Julia, Katy here! Actually all of us did the bungy apart from Honor, who didn't qualify, because she was under age (10) and under weight (35 kg). Harry actually only just qualified. He was 35.3kg at the weigh in, after a large meal the night before to get him up to fighting weight. The bungy was absolutely amazing and exhilarating. I'd recommend it to anyone, but probably best if done with the experts. I kept asking people at AJ Hackett, who did our bungy and who ran the original commercial bungy jump from the very spot that we did ours, what their safety record was. Everyone said 100%. I thought that was fine. And it really was! Hope all's great with you, and maybe we'll see you in London in Sept. Love, Katyx
Hi Harry and Thomas
I dont know you but I have enjoyed reading your blogs, I am in Australia and my family, husband and three kids are heading off to NZ for 3 weeks in september, hope you enjoy the rest of your trip it looks like you are having a great time

Best for the rest of your trip!

We love the blog! What an amazing holiday you're having. I think New Zealand is like England but with more bungy jumping, skiing and water sports not to mention sheep. The blog is fab. Keep the entries coming. Sam will be posting you a message soon. Lots of love Aunty Jo xxx

I'm so glad that you have been enjoying New Zealand. I thought that it was a beautiful place when I visited a few years and I should have stayed for much longer. And I thought the same as you, Thomas and Harry, it did really remind me of Britain at points. I love all the photos - it gives us a great idea of what you are experiencing on your holiday! Lots of love from Ben and myself (and your soon-to-be cousin!)
New Zealand I am so jealous of all you have said about NZ I think some of it was what I saw as the background of the commonwealth games they showed us years ago. I feel like booking now to see it all. Not ssure my heakth would stand up to it all. All my love to you all Granny
It looks and sounds as if you are having a wonderful holiay - a journey of a lifetime. I'm really enjoying the travelogue and look forward to the next entries - I'll bet we see a Kiwi or perhaps a Lindsay buried in off-piste snow and with skis flailing in the air. Perhaps not. Anyway, my love to you all and hope you enjoy the rest of it. Try another eel, Harry.
Love from Grandpa

Seppuku I am sure that a samurai sword in your hand-baggage would have gone down very well on your flight to NZ. Seppuku (vulgarly known as hara-kiri) is when you sit down on the floor, unbutton your shirt, say 'I cannot live with this shame', and ritually disembowel yourself. Always be careful to do this in the bathroom or somewhere else with a linoleum floor.
