Tasty Brilliance Great pics and info.
Thanks for letting others know about the great lunch programs in Japan.
You can see what I eat daily in Kyushu.
I am lucky that it is real, slow cooked, unprocessed food for about $3.00 USA.
I hope American schools can change.

Holy Quran There is no islamic rule that prohibits a non-muslim from touching the Holy Quran. You must only be sure to be clean (perhaps take a shower beforehand if you have gone to the washroom, and wash hands, arms, face, feet- called wu'du) and be sure to carry it respectfully- do not put it directly on the ground or place any other item on top of it. Also Non-muslims should be permitted into mosques, it may be due to cleanliness that some places do not allow it but still every effort should be made to accomodate non-muslims. Islam is not a closed religion, it is a welcoming religion. It welcomes questions and seekers of knowledge and thus the knowledge of the quran is available to all who seek it, muslim or not.

duuuude Yeah, it sounds like iya valley was golden week hell for you. I went there in late Autumn last year, and there was almost no one around. And there were certainly no tour buses, as I had to take a local school bus to make it out to Mt. Tsurugi. I was the only guest at the minshuku I stayed at. But you are sooo right about the absurdity of hikers in Japan!
Oh, and don't you have a ton of tanuki on uoshima? Maybe they never made it out to your island, but there's always a few running around at dusk outside of my apartment.
I can't believe you took a bath with a yakuza!!!!!! AHHHH!!
Thumbs Up! Gotta love all the photos you took and th way you describe Georgetown. They make me miss Penang lots! I was born and bred in that unique island but currently attending university in the U.K. Thanks for sharing!
Totally agree!! Believe it or not, one of the daughters (4rth grade) of my previous supervisor's had cravings for sushi /sashimi and chinese food when asked what she wanted to eat compared to our McDonald, Denny's counterparts in America. Crazy isn't ?
oiiiishiii! i liked this entry - and i totally agree with you. i was eating with my 3 nen seiers the other day and marveling about their meal: salmon, rice and vegetables. i am not sure of a 8 year old in the states that would eat this. i think portions here help too. they eat absurdly unhealthy things in tiny tiny portions.
seems they`re doing something right anyway.
Nice pics! Never knew Singapore was so colorful =)
Glad you made it back safe!

Btw, send me your email address and I'll send you my 400 some odd pics of India =)
well, there are places in singapore which i guess would have suited u much better besides the city. try the heartlands and u would be surprised with the occasional local character and certainly a better overall local singapore flavour as compared to the places u have been to.
Sorry about the trip to the sewer but the new camera sounds great. The "River of Light" picture is stunning!--I want a print of that. The lights in our house are always on for you and the food is as good as ever. Dad
Superb photos Those are some nifty photos. Glad you enjoyed malaysia. I had the pleasure of studying in Chicago for 5 years. I do understand the difference between american people and their goverment's international policy. We muslim don't blame the american people but just hoping that they would be more proactive in understanding other people and regions. Peace.
i love this keep the travel blogs coming, i love hearing about the places i havent been and fuck now i dont want to go to singapore so bad unless i am on business and have to.
go to laos!!! i love vienetiane
nice blog. I want to go to singapore, you have to let me know where to go. The other one had some wicked pics to but I can only be bothered to write one comment.
diversity I totally know what you mean about the ethnic diversity in Malaysia. I couldn't believe it either! It makes for a very colorful country, but I also don't know much about the darker side of it.
Love the trout at La Fortuna I really enjoyed the photos of your time in Costa Rica. I have been to many of the same places and love seeing others view of the beauty.
Originally hailing from the city of beans, lobstaa, and chowdaa this little Bostonian decided that he had eaten his full and set off for points unknown.
