I enjoyed your itinerary. I was your mom Betty Lou's friend and I always followed all of your trips. I especially enjoyed this one as my husband and I went to almost all of the same places that you did but you also visited some out of the way places we had missed. We loved seeing your comments and pictures. Thank you for allowing me to enjoy your trip. Karen Hayes
Food costs seem about the same. The one fancy restaurant I went to in Beijing came with a total bill of about $40. Mostly I eat in little places for less than $10 for lunch. Other things can be very inexpensive. A Beijing subway ride is generally a little over a dollar and entrance to blockbuster sights like the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace are only about $8. Japan was more expensive all around. I’m glad you are reading and enjoying the blog.
life in France Imagine living w/o heat and no electric lines! Cold toes on the way to breakfast
Would be cold in the winters. Did you see their clothes? Guess I am being dark,
Sounds like an great trip! You had control of your destinations and the time you spent there.
Your teammates are looking forward to your return. We missed you, Bill

Wonderful Trip and Blog Thank you for tucking your readers into your duffle bag for a second-hand trip to these exotic places. It was fun to read about your adventures every morning on my computer. I am one of your mother's genealogy and writing group friends in Mt. Clemens, MI.
Looks yummy! Jack and I have been following your blog and enjoying all the pictures! Your meal at the "Garden Restaurant" looks wonderful and made me think of having "duck" for dinner tonight!
Hey Bill and Maggie!
So glad you made it Maggie! Looks like this has been an exciting and inspiring adventure which I have enjoyed following. Looking forward to seeing the sites in Australia--a place Jack and I have always wanted to visit. Some day!! Have fun!
What a ride! Well Bill, I must say the landscape certainly varies and looks all so interesting. I am envious but enjoying it vicariously. Any snakes to worry about? You are a very brave and adventurous person!
We just had 5 or so inches of snow drop yesterday...so enjoy the warmth!
on the road Great narrative, good photos and awesome Indiana Jones. Dori and I are trucking with you, Bill!
Our lunches aren't going to be the same.

Dinner and pics Hey Bill, I am a bit behind but am enjoying catching up. The dinner and restaurant look wonderful! All so yummy--but I am not a lamb person so I would have made a different choice..but it looks so nice. Enjoy and be safe!
Hi Bill,
Just wanted to say thank you for "taking" me on the RTW!! I loved it!! Learned a lot, enjoyed the pictures, and loved hearing about your lunches! You made your journey extremely interesting. Have a safe trip back to Portland!
Linda
Blog Well Done We, in your mother's writing class, have all enjoyed your trip around the world. I, personally, looked forward to my little visit each day with new experiences in a different part of the world. Thank you for posting each day so others could travel with you on your journey.
Hi Bill,
Tokyo looks interesting, how are you enjoying the people? Do you find them friendly and helpful? Your lunches sound pretty good. Sounds like you have been lucky with just pointing and liking what you get. But so far the best thing you had was the ice-cream cone!! That sounded good! Yum! It certainly looks like a very big and crowded city. Have you used "doma" yet? Well, keep enjoying Tokyo, take care! Linda
Hi Bill,
Tokyo sounds really exciting and expensive! Wow-$130.00 for one melon, must be the Dolly Parton of the melons. Your lunch sounds interesting also, good thing you can use chopsticks! Glad you are arriving home on the West coast rather than the East. Lots of damage, and travel delays due to the Frankenstorm! Does Japan celebrate Halloween? Take care-be safe-enjoy!! Linda
Hi Bill,
I am having such a good time "touring" with you! Love the pictures! That fish you stopped to see was a Frankenfish! What a weird creature. Love to hear of the places you stop for lunch. They sound so serene and peaceful. All but the one with the Wild white horses running through the grass. (Loved that picture!) Makes you wonder where's Lady Chatterley? You seem to be having such a great time! Thanks for sharing-love it!! I'm still excited about my phone call from France!!! :) Take care, keep enjoying!! Linda
