Scouts Had a great troop night last week, went to T V L B in Tynemouth with Malcolm for the Heritage Badge. Went to the presentation night Margaret and I and was given a cloth badge and a bit of paper Great ??. We left as soon as possible. We hope all is well with you both and the weather here has been Rain,Rain, Rain. St Georges day parade last Sunday,
Take Care Ken
Mahjong at the retirement village. They had a Mahjong session at the retirement village, but we did not get to know about it until afterward - pity, I am sure the Geordies would have thrashed them. (Wishful thinking!)
Excellent Blog Nice Blog David .... the photos of Perth & Bunbury are making me home sick .... try and get to Busselton (yes you have been there before but worth while another trip to the undersea acquarium and Walpole Inlet and on to Pemberton would be a nice trip. Perhaps my folks would like a last trip to their favourite places ... be safe and have a fab time
Monday Morning Not a bad morning sun is out and no wind. Going to the Tynemouth Voluntary Life Brigade Watch Tower with the scouts on Friday the 27th April. Wish you could just nip back for a little while.
Awards night this next Thursday I.ll let you know what I get. This should be interesting HA HA.
Seen any scout yet? Regards to all Ken ps Has Valda got sore feet yet. xx
Check-up Hi Dave & Valda,
Glad to know you made it OK and that you eventually met up with your bags!
Dave, do you still want me to send the blog details to the walking group or have you already done that? Also I think you have done an update which doesn't appear to have come through.
Anyway, this week in Newcastle is the 36th Beer Festival, so plenty to look forward to!
Cheers
Murray.
No, Not crazy As to your thoughts on possibly being crazy for your adventure. Certainly not. Under different circumstances, we would do the same. In 2008 we did a 19,000km 3month tour in a campervan.
Looking forward to the rest of your blog. I will read #2 onwards after posting this.
Thanks for the moral support! It is nice to have a bit of encouragement from someone who has done it. Some of my friends back home think we are mad, but most would like to do it as well. We are staying with family at the moment, so will just have local photos for a while, so hope not too boring for you.
Scouts Nice to see you are safe . Very good troop night . Lots of bookings for the Cub camp.
Bring me a budgie back please Keep in touch Dave and when do you leave for your long drive and I think you will need a full tank. £30-00 worth Ken xxx
Blighty Your trip so far adds further weight to my slowly evolving theory that I've been lied to all my life. Since I was a kid at school I've been told how the UK is the greatest place in the world - we've fallen so far behind (if we ever were infront !); we now live in a sh*thole!
Hoping. Hi David,I hope you received my message okay and hope all is well with you both.Looking forward to your e-mails which I have logged onto.Keep happy.
Frank.
Regards to you and all at probus. Hi Frank, thanks for taking the time to write, it is nice to hear from you. I will add your email to the list of people who are informed when I add an update, to save you having to check. I am staying with the inlaws until the 27th so may not be too much exciting on the blog.
Just an idea. My nephew is a top man in Adelaide on the television and I am sure he would be interested in your story-would it be okay to mention your travels to him.I hope you have a great time on your journey and will be looking in on your blog with great interest.Take care and keep healthy.
Frank.
David is a former lecturer in Electronic Engineering who decided to take early retirement and escape the madness of working in a Further Education College. Valda is his wife, who also recently retired. Both of us decided to try out something a bit more adventurous than taking a package holiday, and set out to see a bit of the world "down under" before popping our clogs. Family living there say it is great, so we are off to see if anything there could replace Whitley Bay as the Centre of the Universe. (Not really possible, but we should look).... full info
