Geo: 56.3389, -2.79892Today we headed towards the East Scottish coast for a change of scenery and a chance to meet up with Lorenzo in St Andrews. The land here is much flatter. Some lovely Norfolk-esque fishing villages. Isaac enjoyed running on the sand at a forest beach and then at St. Andrews. We took the scenic route back past the East Neuk fishing villages. Very picturesque and the sun even kept up with us! Wish it wasn't always accompanied by so much wind though!... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » Scotland » Perthshire » Killin March 31st 2015

Geo: 56.4677, -4.31806Novelty of snow and consequent runny noses is wearing off!! We set off in the sunshine to Culney Gardens to find some red squirrels. It didn't take us long to spot them as one pretty much ran up to the car on arrival! The garden was beautiful. Lots of spring flowers beginning to pop through. There is a lovely walk through the woodland gardens that became a little hazardous in unexpected heavy snow! Once back in the warm, dry car, we were reluctant to head out into the unknown weather conditions again so we drove along Loch Tay to Kilin and back. The Dochart Falls in Killin made for a dramatic stop off. The drive was stunning. Isaac is constantly informing us that there are 'MORE baas!'... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » Scotland » Perthshire » Pitlochry March 30th 2015

Geo: 56.7051, -3.73307We woke up to snow! Scotland is very much living up to its 4 seasons in a day reputation! We headed to Pitlochry today but were all rather tired and windswept so we only bothered to leave the warmth of the car to see The Queen's View. Worth the effort!... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » Scotland » Perthshire » Aberfeldy March 29th 2015

Geo: 56.6117, -3.86593We arrived at our cottage, Croftness Bothy exhausted and ready for Saturday night tv by the log burner. Some little body had other ideas though and proceeded with mission demolition and danger through every nook and cranny of the cottage. It made us realise just how 'Isaac proof' our own house has become and the prospect of a week with open planned living and no stair gates seemed almost infeasible. Luckily, the next day we became much fonder of our little cottage after it happily welcomed 3 generations of friends. We had a wonderful time together. Firstly meeting the landlord's daughters and their ponies and then walking to the Birks of Aberfeldy. The Birks are very understated and truly beautiful. Everybody managed the pleasant walk through the forest and thankfully there was more water ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » England » Northumberland March 28th 2015

Geo: 55.6065, -1.71703Just stayed on the A1 for hours on end until we broke the journey up in Northumberland. We had been driving in torrential rain for miles, making Bill very reluctant to divert from his driving mission. However, as if by magic, the sun appeared over Bamburgh and we had a wonderful windy time on the golden, moving sands against the beautiful castle backdrop. Finished off by a pot of tea and cake in the warm. The runny noses started here and they are yet to stop running!... read more

Geo: 49.2871, -123.132Our last full day in Vancouver. There are so many things we are going to miss about this place such as never really having to look before crossing a road as everybody automatically stops. Isaac will miss counting boats every day! Our favourite walk is along the seawall from our hotel to Canada Place. So many wonderful things to look at. Today we headed a bit further afield to Vancouver's famous Chinatown. Very tatty looking but it has a beautiful chinese garden in the middle of it. Isaac had a good run around! In one of the rooms, we found an author signing Chinese books. Turns out he's also the original author of the octonauts books!! We headed back, past Gastown and the steam clock and back to our preferred side of the city. ... read more

Geo: 49.2883, -123.131After an ultra efficient check out and our last wonderful breakfast and run around the ship, we waved goodbye to our beautiful Disney Wonder. The rest of the day was mainly spent mourning our loss! We watched it depart for its next adventure. Lucky souls on board! Our sadness was slightly cheered up by the view from our hotel room though!... read more
