Glad to hear you are both enjoying yourselves (especially the part about Wal being nearly surfed out). It's comical to hear that runners agro exists across the globe (not just on the bondi to bronte when three sweaty, mid-life crisis, next on the heart attack list males take up the entire pavement forcing you to squeeze through a tiny gap machetti-ing excess body hair in an attempt to pass only to trip on their mangy dog that could really use some of that hair.
Well I am being scientist Serena this week and am heading to the ever exotic Iron Cove for four days of experiments. Prof Charles from the Gold Coast has arrived with loads of extra expensive equipment for us to play with. I am also minding the Sammoydes, (Kinky in particular) and so have been taken for a drag around the coastal track, Bronte park and Tamarama for the last few days (generating some runners agro I am sure). If Wal thought Sammy was disobedient he would be horrified with Kinky. Kinky is completely void of training and is beyond help (I have tried, but given that I only have them a few days every few months I realised that it was a lost cause and decided to love them as they are. Note to self: remember to pick up any clothing I wish to keep whole off the floor before going to sleep tonight).
I hope you both have a safe flight to the States and the next part of your journey is even more brilliant.
Lots of love.
Serena

GAH!Anthony Keidis... George and Ian...
This is serious! You've let the beastie boys go before,it's truely time to redeem yourselves! If you both happen to casually stroll past him again...please get a photo or a lock of hair or maybe even a letter from him confessing his undying love for me...
Miss you guys hey.had to make a trip to bondi in your honour and forced everyone to go to revesis and drink asahi's!
So...a word of warning, do you remember Anthong Keidis in point break...he was dumb and full of muscles so when approaching him make sure his fists aren't clenched and if he's flicking his hair vigorously...run!
I don't know how much i can write in here so i'll stop wrting, but am loving reading this!miss you G xoxoxoxo
A life vicarious Yes, I'm living through your adventure!! I still might be able to head to New York when you guys are there (how long for again??)! Just spent the weekend at SurfExpo where I managed to score some free sunnies and a new sector 9 which I plan on taking for a ride this morning! I'm heading down to Miami today, so I'll be there for the next couple of weeks. Give me a call when you get to the mainland and keep up the good work! At least you are in a place with some decent surf...! love and hugs... heather xxoo
Great to hear from you. Congratulations on your wet and wild adventures. It sounds brilliant. Remind me to organise a stop over in Hawaii on route to my next international conference. Its almost 12 am at home and I have just finished my paper, subject to adjustments my supervisor or co-authors may suggest tomorrow. This means I will be able to emerge from behind my computer screen and let my brain relax for a day or two before launching into prep for four days of field experiments starting on the 23rd. My netball team had its first game of the year last night. I forgot that it is a fast twich sport so after one half I was wrecked, especially since my shooters took half the game to get their eye back in. Still it was great to see my team and have a play even though we got a bit of drubbing. Clearly the opposition didn't take their holidays as seriously as we did.
Well I am currently on a chocolate high and am wide awake (special time) but probably should try and get some sleep as tomorrow is likely to be a long day emailing my paper back and forward until it is just right. Hopefully the wind will back off and my tummy will settle so I can get an early wave.
Surf report for Wal, foamy sessions since Friday (on Saturday every man and his dog was on a foamy at tama, Luke Kennedy, Miles (never seen him at tama before), Stabs Derek, Macca and the usual tama set, Simon, Mark, etc etc), SE winds picked up last night, this morning onshore mess mixed SE wind waves with NE swell, one surfer out a south Bondi getting nix, 3 body boarder groms riding messy sections at Macas before trying Tama. Suffice it to say, you are not missing anything.
Can't wait to hear what happens next on your guys journey.
Miss you both.
Serena
Best wishes So todays the day you fly the big white bird. The coastal run just wont be the same without you Georgie. I just want to thank you Wal, on behalf of anyone who surfs Tama and Bondi for taking 3 months off. Everyones wave quotas are sure to triple in your absence. I hope you get some brilliant surfs in Hawaii and Chile and come home completely exhausted and surfed out. That would be a win win situation.
Back to you Georgie. I agree with the stilhettos/thermals look so long as the leggings are black and you have a stunning belt to pull it all together. Note that style and warmth are not necessarily complimentary so one may have to be sacrificed for the other. Yes, it is a cruel cruel world.
Bon Vogage
Can't wait to hear about life beyond our shores.
If you have enough warming drinks on the slopes, you won't care what you look like in thermals. :)
When you get out in -20 degrees, everybody looks like the Michelin Man!
Have fun!
Georgie & Wal are travelling for three months from Jan 2008 to March 2008!! The trip will be a fab mix of surfing, skiing and shopping... all accompanied by amazing food and of course a few tasty beverages!
We'll be leaving Jan 9th and will be heading to Hawaii, US - Lake Tahoe (skiing and hopefully over to Vegas???), New York, London, Paris, Chamonix (skiing), Italy, and Chile.
We're looking forward to letting you know what's been happening...until then stay tuned and take care...
