Abdul pouring mint tea

Abdul
So happy to hear that you have a good guide, he looks like a really nice guy. Has Susan's Arabic come in handy on this trip? I wish I'd kept up my lessons in primary school :) Really enjoying following your trip, looking forward to reading more!

Abdul
Yes, Abdul is a really great trip leader. We all love him. The arabic Susan speaks is very different to Moroccan Arabic, so actually her French is more useful here.

video :)
Can't wait to see Abdul's video!

Gin and Tonic in Casablanca
Great to hear you arrived safely, and enjoyed your first few days of the trip. I seem to remember Casablanca being a big, busy metropolis and not quite so romantic as the name evokes. Sorry to hear that there was no gin at Rick's, but it sounds like you had a lovely meal. I love the GnT in the room - I always take a travel supply of brandy with me on my trips, for moments like this. I look forward to reading more ?

Gin and tonic in Casablanca
Thanks Alex, it’s so nice to know people are reading the blog. We brought gin and tonic to our Egypt trip, and are very glad we did the same here!

So what is a hassock? I like that term “spiritual drinks”. I had some of those tonight, and I plan to get very spiritual this weekend too! Very interesting reading Lori, you remember everything with amazing detail, including unusual names and places. Sounds like an exotic adventure.

Hassock!
A hassock is a round floor cushion, that you can sit on or put your feet on. Like a beanbag foot stool.

Sneaky changes
How annoying that Peregrine removed included activities at the last minute and substituted museums that were closed! I would have been very annoyed too. Is the pastille the savoury pie with cinnamon sugar on top? It sounded strange to me, but glad to hear it was tasty! :)

Sneaky changes
Yes Ren,the pastille was the savoury pie with cinnamon and icing sugar. Sounds strange but it was really good!

General Comments
As with your other trips I am enjoying your Blog immensely. Your comment "the money would have been better spent improving the lives of Moroccans" brought back memories of the massive churches in Quebec - one could make a similar observation there. Looked up your name "Lehassan" and found a possible spelling "Elhassan". One thing that made me chuckle was your observation on the "squat toilet". It brought back memories of some years ago when Avis and I were visiting Chartres Cathedral in Frances. Avis had to perform like you did and as this was her first experience with a squat toilet, it took some encouragement to use the facilities. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

General comments
Hi Derek, that’s probably the correct spelling. Thanks for your comment and glad you’re enjoying the blog!

Your writing is very descriptive and enjoyable to read. That sounds like something a teacher would write on a students report but it’s true.

Thanks Scott! That’s nice to hear.

Another view from the second floor

What! No gin?
That must have been disappointing, but the décor looks spot on (thankfully minus the hazy cigarette smoke!). And glad to hear the food was good :)

The decor was really nice, and we didn’t miss the haze of smoke, that’s for sure!
