i can perfectly picture you not wanting to turn around where people can see you haha sorry i haven't had time to write back to your myspace message, i've been super busy...i probably will tomorrow though. enjoy your awesome sounding weekend!
Beautiful Pics Vanessa, I'm thoroughly enjoying your blogs. I feel like I'm living your trip through you. The pictures you posted on the previous blog are great. The campus and country look beautiful. Loved the lizzard. I'm amazed at how much you are enjoying the food. When you come home, our food will probably seem so bland!
Class Registration Hey, Hang in there. I totally understand how you can hold your emotions so well, then one straw is cut short and you want to just let yourself go. I'm that type of person. As far as the class registration goes, I had to do something similar to register at Pitt-Bradford. We would fill out our paper of what classes we wanted then had to stand in a never ending line and have a lady at a computer register us. Often, as my luck goes, by the time you got to the front of the line most of the good classes were gone. Throughout my whole college years, I never sat at a computer and registered for classes myself. So, hang in there, I'm right there with you. Love yah, Sara
been there Vanessa - I don't know if your mother told you but that was how we had to register for our classes when we were in college. We would go to the gym and stand in line for the classes we would want. Usually we made sure there was a stack of cards for the class so we did not have to stand in line only to have the class fill up. Somethimes you would return a card because you had to rearrange your schedule in case a class was full. I am jealous that all my kids did was press a button and that was it.
Don't let things get you down. You have a right to feel frustrated and want to cry but all things come to pass as I know you are well aware. It must help just to vent a litltle on your blog. For now you moved back into my college time period - so all is not bad. i had a great college life.
Love
Lois
hang in Hey - hang in there. I can only imagine how you are feeling. Isn't it amazing how sometimes you think you have all of your emotions in check and then boom - out of nowhere the tears just want to come.... I am one of those people - think I hold together well and when the last thing I want to do is get upset - yep here they come - tears! arghh! Anyway - you sound like you are doing great. It must be so confusing trying to get everything set up and in order, but it will come and then you will be able to relax about that part - and enjoy all the fun times. Think of me while you dance the night away - oh yeah, and if you take a dance class you know we will all be awaiting some demostration and dances (they don't have poles, do they :) ???!!!!) Keep us updated, love your stories, and you!
it's amazing Hi Vanessa, I'm happy to hear how well you're doing considering the cold showers and craziness in registering for classes. It cracks me up how much you love the food, and the drink. I love to hear about the new foods you've tried. Who'dda ever thought you'd be eating goat?!?! That's great. The world is an amazing place and its people even more fascinating. Glad you're experiencing both! Not sure why you think people are staring at you, but I think it's because they're not used to seeing such a beautiful american girl.
Hugs to you. Michele
Interesting... It's been great getting to hear about your adventures. It sounds like you are trying to make the most of this cultural change. It's amazing how little everything seems to cost. Sorry to hear that you've run into trouble with the registering. The 'real reason' you went abroad and your biggest headache. Oh well. I love reading and living vicariously through you.
Bound ward home, I'm glad to hear that you are having such an enjoyable time! That is so exciting that you can be there. I want to hear more about the music they listen to, anymore beyonce? love you, be safe- Philip
interesting updates Hey Vanessa,
Keep all this info coming. It is really very interesting. What really fascinates me is the idea that you are half a world away and only 4 hours ahead of us. Don't know how I would be handling the food, since I am more of a beef, pork and chicken person. Goat meat, not quite sure. Talk later.......Teenie
How Fun Hey Vanessa! You sound like you are having an awesome time!!! You are a very brave person to be undertaking such an elaborate trip! I hope that all keeps going smoothly for you and that you continue to "fit in" with the ghana people. Make sure you get to class (whenever that is) - you did go there to learn - didn't you??!!Keep us updated.
It sounds like you are having a blast. I'm enjoying every entry you are writing, everything you are telling us about is very interesting. I found the coca-cola light a bit funny. Its amazing how cheap everything seems to be compared to here in America. What is the legal drinking age there? Do they have police that patrol the area?
Thanks for keeping us up to date. I keep thinking about how brave you are compared to me. I wouldn't have the guts to go to another country like that.
very cool entry Hi Vanessa,
I enjoyed reading your first entry; you have a great writing style.
Glad you're meeting the locals .. so you can get a taste of the real culture. Can't wait to read more. Love, Michele
Missing you Hey Vanessa, hope everything is going swell over there. I want to let you know that I love you and miss you a whole bunch. And wish you the best of luck with everything. I can't wait to hear from you and let you know about the Rcihmond happenings.
Ghana Hoping that by the time you read this you are safely in Ghana. Can't wait to hear about the flight, was there any excitement. Did you buy your Mosquito net yet? If so, Can you buy different colors, is there a design to it or just a plain net? Is it really buggy over there?
i miss you already Just remember I'll be right here waiting for your arrival. Now I can't text your pals to tell them to ask you who's my boobie. You know you'll miss that question.
I'm so excited for you! Vanessa, I can't believe that the time is here! I am so excited for you, wish I could give you a BIG HUG before you go, you missed the one when you left Saint Marys! Enjoy every minute while you are there, you will meet life long friends. I'll be praying for you. Love, Rene
where ghana is... Ghana is located in West Africa. The University of Ghana is in the capital city, Accra, which is right on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea. I will put up a map when I post my first blog once I'm over there.
GHANA??? Vanessa, how very exciting for you. Where exactly is Ghana? I was just talking to Scott and told him, and he didnt know where Ghana was either. Pretty sad on our parts. What will you be studying? Are you pretty nervous to go to unfamiliar territory? Is it only one semester? LOL Rich just called, he doesnt know either where it is. Thats too funny.
Write back when you get a chance. Hey, Can you give me Phillips address, your moms if he's home yet, I have to get his grad.card out.
Thanks, Racheal
