Hello family and frıends back home and hello fellow travellers to Turkey. This entry is going to serve two purposes... update people at home as to what has been happening in Turkey and help anyone else who may be travellıng with lots of tips and suggestions. We started in Istanbul. It is a huge cıty, a lot like New York ın that it is always alive, but does not have to be overwhelming. We took the train into the city, and locals were more than willing to help us figure out how to get around. Someone even paid for our tickets as we only had Euros. So my fırst helpful tip ıs 1. My first ever blog entry... and I mean EVER. It is one week until I leave for Europe and I don't know what I'm more excited for... going to Turkey or leaving Calgary. As it stands, we land in Frankfurt on the 16th and we're spending the day there seeing the sights and drinking the beer and then we head off for Istanbul in the morning. Followed by about a week in Istanbul, hopefully getting to see the major churches, the markets, a Turkish bath, a Turkish wedding, a Bosphorus cruise and the general mayhem that is Istanbul.
