Adventure Travel for the Young-at-Heart
Welcome to my travel blog which is aimed primarily at mature older adults who are still young-at-heart. I always loved to travel and managed to visit much of the North America (including all 50 states), most countries in Western Europe and a few in Asia during vacations over my 35-year career while working and raising a family. However, my passion for traveling to new places and learning about the local cultures grew exponentially when I retired in late 2015, an empty-nester just shy of my 58th birthday.
During the first 24 months of this life-stage I explored Peru, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Zimbabwe, Botswana, South Africa, Dubai and the Caribbean (as well as several road, train and plane trips in the US) embracing the cultures and experiencing what was unique and special. Travel is my classroom and I have grown much wiser through these first-hand experiences although I have also become more profoundly humbled. The world is small, humanity is connected, and there are many possible ways of being and living life than what we experience as Americans. And, our planet Earth contains so many beautiful places.
World travel is different now for me, a mature adult. I take fewer physical risks, buy traveler’s insurance, and seek a little more comfort than when I was younger. However, as a life-long learner I can tap into previously acquired knowledge to gain more insight and understanding with each new place.
Join me on this adventure. My blog will include highlights of recent trips as well as my insights and tips.
Yours in travel, Catherine
