I stepped out of the airport in Honolulu feeling eager to return to the backpacker lifestyle. I was ready to wear the same clothes for a month without washing them and go for days (even weeks) without having a shower. I was ready to sleep at bus stations or in hostels that are infested with mice and have dirty sheets. I was ready to make a free hostel breakfast of stale bread and tea with old milk span out over 3 meals. I was ready to arrive at the hostel in a stretch limousine…. Hang on, WHAT?!
