Shetland, wonderful Shetland. Hi Tracey, Another beautiful blog, written from the soul in your inimitable style. There can be little to better this delightful, remote island paradise and we know why you love it so. David and Janice The grey-haired-nomads
SHetland HEllo Tracey,
What a wonderful and thoughtful journey into the mysterious land of Shetland lace. We, the grey haired nomads, have a great affection for the freedom enjoyed on those enigmatic islands. RIght now, we're on a like planet, in Iceland, which breathes images of Shetland around every corrner. You are telling us about your experiences in this blog, which is very unlike you. Perhaps you should try rewriting it, telling yourself; and feel the difference it will bring to your soul.
Love every day.
DAvid
Shetland Hello again. Yes, this is not my normal style of writing. It's a piece I have done to explain my work. It shouldn't really be on this site - it should be on my knitting blog and I might remove it but it was a good process to do. hope you're both well. :)
Clerkenwell Another fine posting, Tracey. Your exceptional people observation skills make me quite envious. Wonderful, and always a pleasure to read. David
MY PLACE I like the UK. No, I should say the truth: I love the UK. I have been there only once but I did not reach the furthest north. That is on my list. I love the pictures of that remote loneliness. Lovely places. I wish God takes me there sometime. Hugs from Argentina.
Subtly Wild Wool Week How fun to learn of and work with wool, walk a magical Tombola beach, and to meet an otter, a seal and a new friend up for adventure at a moment's notice. A fine Scottish week!
A lovely journey back in time So evocative of the past were your descriptions and photos of the old village, the ancient cobbled path and especially the old graveyard with a view. I also love the deep silence of graveyards and reading the tombstones. But when I saw Sylvia's solitary, weed-choked grave and read the words on her stone, I was overcome with tears. So thoughtful of you to bring Anais to read to her.
Wonderful Winter Thank you so much for sharing the fantastic description of your walk in the snow. It brought back lots of memories of similar walks in pristine snow when I was young. You forget how special it is when you don't see it regularly. I now live in Australia and very rarely see snow unless I go up into the mountains. The photos are amazing, too.
Nepalese Roads I must admit I held my breath most of the time I was traveling in Nepal. The roads and the drivers are a bit crazed. Not surprised to hear about this.
Count on the Jains! "Ello Traaaacey Looov'! What a cracking trip! Count on the Jains to come up with some top flight carving! I burned out a whole flash card at a Jain temple taking detail photos of the carvings on 8 million columns...every one different! It was one of the highlights of the trip...along with cheese naan, a float on the Ganges and projectile vomiting (etc)!! (Don't do that last one!!!) Keep 'em coming Tracey...I live vicariously through your posts! D xx
The Intruder I loved the part of feeling like one shouldn't be there... What a place. It seems you were the perfect observer; present but without imposing your presence. Thanks for sharing
Delhi captured in a few words As always, you've captured the essence of the place in a few words. Sprawling, noisy, dusty Delhi - you've just got to love it!
'Ello Traaacey Loov! Good stuff! Glad you are enjoying it so far. There was a lovely little museum I went to called the craft museum. Hardly anyone there, beautiful collection...nice way to spend an hour or two out of the heat and hussle/hassle. While you're in Delhi, can you see if you can find out how to cook 'Subzi Punchmel'. I ate it a few times in Karol Bagh but haven't been able to find anything about it since!! Take care Traaace! D xx
I don't knit, but... Cleggy, Meggy and Skeggy may sound like something from an old-time musical hall act, but it seems that they (and Cleggy in particular) might be just the place to do the knitting or to enjoy a Mermaid fish & chip lunch. I'll have to try it some day - the fish and chips that is, not the knitting!
