more danger.. whoa! i've been snorkeling before, and also had the opportunity to see what it was i'd be trying to see before i jumped, but even seeing a shark in the water was less scary than that picture.. how could there be room for you and all of those fish? well, it looks like your pasty body and face actually came out ok from the looks of the starfish picture.. glad you are trying new things and glad the danger is coming in the form of contact lenses and face eating fish than robbers and bad food (although the food thing will probably stay with you, i'm willing to bet..)
sign language Get down to basics, moo for milk, draw foods needed, etc. It will make people willing to aid you on your quest for what ever. Eden, your funny, put your experiences on paper when you get back. You guys are a good team. Good luck, Mom T
36yrs difference This is so neat, going to a blog to communicate!! I hope you both get great memories and writting material from this. Be careful and don't do anything I wouldn't have done(in 1970.) Bye
Mrs. P. Eden, your Mom gave me the link to this site. What wonderful fun and what an adventure. Please keep writing....I can vicariously enjoy while I do marketing updates on radiology imaging equipment...:(.
Get better soon youse twos I hope youse twos (that's just a little Chicago talk for those of you who have never been here) are feeling better by now because there is nothing worse than wasting away your practically free vaction being sick in South America. Seriously though have you guys been held up by a little kid with a big stick yet?
respecting the differences and feeling better. i always say you don't really understand the culture until you live as the locals do.. and in this vein, i have a couple of "traveling guidelines": eat where the locals eat. take public transportation. but i never considered visiting the local doctors. thanks.. nice tip. it looks from the pictures that you both are feeling better and getting around again..
just making entries to entertain myself now.. (and hopefully kyle and eden too) that is a great cave photo! i mean it. i've seen a good number o caves and this is a great one!
correction. ok... in my previous comment, i said get out of there. i was wrong. the waterfalls were nice, and who would want to miss out on a meal with sounds of squealing pigs being murdered.
didn't i say language is funny.. that is so funny to see an english sign implying an understanding of the english language, titling a night club (with a silhoutte of a naked woman) as "funny". funny thing, language...
dangerous stuff.. be careful i love that you are wearing an Evil Dead shirt with a look of disgust at what you are about to put into your mouth and digest.. sharpened butter knives? why don't they just steal a steak knife? looks like some of the food and the people could be better.. glad you are ok...
alright! finally, some really good times with the locals! "they would have shot me.." how great is that?! the hat looks nice, and being that it's made out of stone, it wouldn't blow off in the wind either.. cool. "the seedy underbelly of christ"; i couldn't have said it better.
words.. frankly speaking, you look petered out at bob's.. language is a funny thing. maybe in portuguese, "bob's" implies "the greatest" or "the most extraordinary" or "just like the unitied state's serves". i like your face in the picture. i hope things get better for you..
grow wings and breathe fire? i'm not sure that your sarcastic wit really shone through in this one. i'm just hoping you get to see some of that brazilian nudity that i'm always hearing about and would never know just how to react to.. you know, other than the obvious.
wishing you well.. or: not just to be polite.. nice picture kids. it says a lot about where you were at at this space and time in your lives, and also indicates where you've been, and where you are headed. i saved it. wishing you well on your travels and a safe return too..
I'm Kyle. I'm almost 30 and I've never set foot outside of the US (unless you count Tijuana, which I don't). I've always wanted to travel, but never had the wherewithal - until last summer when I won a round-trip ticket to Rio de Janeiro. So South America's where I'm headed, two months is how long I'll be there, and Canada's where I'll tell people I'm from. Y'know, so people won't be confused by my politeness.
I'm Eden. I spend too much time thinking of cute things to say about myself. I also usually write in lowercase, but I guess Kyle's proper capitalization made me feel sheepish. I... full info
