India tea tastes the best India tea tastes the best.I think you tasted/drunk raodside/railway station tea and not from a proper good restaurant.
On the other side,I cant taste the black bitter ugly looking tea which English drink!!:-)
I agree with you however .... Indeed Kannur is one of those places where you expect the least but end up getting the most out of. In fact the same holds true all along the Malabar coast (from Calicut all the way up north to Kannur). The people are friendly and generous and compared to south kerala and possibly most of India you get a relative break from the filth.
However I hope Kannur does not develop into a hot destination in a few years as you suggest. I think it would be a shame if Kannur ended up a tacky tourist trap that attracts cheap tourism mainly from western europe - like Goa and Kovalam. I hope Kannur and the rest of the Malabar coast continues to remain off the beaten path. In my humble opinion I don't think you would have had the same positive experience had Kannur been a popular well known destination !
Bull S**T Tommy with your fantastic travel blog which has kept me hugley entertained, and all of your great photos I can't believe you did not get pictures of your self getting chased by a calf. Very poor form will have to do better.
Cricket I've heard it's not worth watching India play cricket in their home country. I imagine it will be especially boring if England are playing. Just get an early flight home!
oi ! great chat and the photos are good ..one grumble - is that my towel i see hanging outside your hut ???
what number of stolen towels does this take you up to now then ??
sounds all very familiar Wel I must first thank you. having not read your blogs since I left for Peru I have managed to take up the past hour and a half reading them and putting off looking at my dissertation plans!! You seem to be coping well with the hawkers of India, I therefore challenge you to stay patient with those of Peru - I spent the majority of my 3 week trip speaking one spanish phrase - "No grassy ass". As you can see my spanish has come on leaps and bounds!! The request for pens, the not so clean rooms and the lack of hot water - all distant memories now!! Look forward to seeing you soon bruv (and seriously, put some weight on, the skinny look doesn't suit you!!) Laters xx
shall i change your order dude ..what a wicked photo of the sunset ...you should submit to national geo!!
looking at the latest photo of you i think i should change your shirt order for the 'wedding of the year' - shall i go for 14.5 ??
bad cuda mate ..don't eat cuda ..it's potentially harmful ..you can get fish poisoning by eating large carnivorous fish as the poisonous toxin bio accumulates through the food chain. apparently it's called ciguaterra.
check it out .... don't want you wasting away even more now do we.!!
Sami has definately lost it ... you need to move back in and set him back on his sitting on the sofa with the lights off path.
verkala looks cool - enjoy !!
Rough Seas I knew mum shouldn't have washed you in the machine when you were young because now every time the sea is rough you liken it to that experience! Food sounds fantastic and you look very comfortable with the horizontal position. Keep enjoying!
Who Magazine Tommy... Imagine my surprise when I opened the pages of Who magazine and found pictures of you and Nicole Ritchie in the "separated at birth" section. Please eat something...
in my defence nothing to do with being astute. the guy had a meter so it wasn't as if i could have agreed to a price beforehand. Plus I was tired and vulnerable. I knew straight away he was ripping me off but just couldn't be bothered to argue. He'll get his bad karma for that one mark my words
soft c@ck tommy ... being an educated yorkshireman why do you keep on getting ripped off ?? surely after 6 weeks you are astute enough to know what's next ......
would love to hear their 'tictacs' .... might even adopt a few
crapfilm the photo of Fort M looks remarkably like the backdrop to that epic, award-winning Devito-Douglas-Turner vehicle (sequel), The Jewel in the Nile . . . . can you confirm?
Where has my muscular boyfriend gone?!! Thomas, thought that I should write a comment so that people don't think I'm a neglectful girlfriend..! Really enjoying the blog, very entertaining but slightly concerned about the slowly disappearing Tommy...where has my muscular boyfriend gone..?..... At this rate you will fit into my clothes on your return!!....enjoy the rest of your trip and i will get preparing the cakes and protein shakes. Louxx
great hoof !! i didn't know sami was out there with you !! loved the idea of sleeping out in open .- good work victor !!
did you not read your ray mears bushcraft book - he would have definately shown how to turn dung beatles into a veritable feast !!
Now then... Tommy Arch... loving reading the blog. Reading your ramblings also has the pleasant effect of putting wee Struan to sleep. Glad to see that you are dwelling on the spiritual and cultural aspects of your host country (and also that you have suffered a bout of the old squits). Not so sure about the haircut - thought you may have been one of the scrotes off "Bad Lads Army" for a minute...
Forgot to say - your description of the Taj was brilliant (as have been all your other bits). Keep working on your language skills and you'll get an A* yet xx
hair and other things Believe the monks also have their heads shaved - is there anything else you want to tell us? Photo similar to one taken 29 years ago minus the stubble of course. Cork in post. Love from us xx
bandana at thatpoint the bandana was for religious purposes yes. i tried to find a black one so i could look like the great sikh hero monty panesar but couldn't find one. Expect to see more of the bandana though. the hair all comes off soon and i'm not getting my bonce burnt!

loving the chat -stay cool
earny has had a boy named struan jay
Well, nice spot! Hey,
just 26 years ago I visited this place as well.
Wonder how bright it looks now, maybe they have painted and brushed up all the bildings now.
After this heavy massacre in the mid 80 th, when the indian army occupied the temple and some people died, motar shell where shooten on the temple yard.
Things came and go- be prepared to see all of india now- in future many things will chance and than all will be more international and not any longer "typical" for a country- I heard that Delhi is having a subway now!
greetings Thomas
