Reply to travel tales Dear Tim and Sue
So sorry we have not replied before but Bruce has tried and has not managed to get it right ... we are hoping that this attempt will work! We have, however, read the reports with GREAT interest, huge fascination, plenty of envy, and wonder at the magical photos and magnificent writing style! You have certainly started retirement off on the right note, presumably how you intend to continue. Not only have you managed to capture the spirit of the places you have visited, much to our awe, but you have clearly unwound and forgotten all about the corporate world and all those trifling concerns. Congratulations, too, on living so well with each other ... it is no mean feat being just two of you for so long ... we know all about it and it was very good for us. Keep the blogs rolling .. we so enjoy them!
We are at the moment with Sue and Col in Ushuaia, Argentina, having arrived in Buenos Aires on Sunday. The "end of the world" is a truly magical place .. soaring snowy peaks, crystal clear rivers and lakes, the mystical Beagle Channel and Darwin Range .. we are definitely hoping to visit here next year on our trip to Chile .. you will be blown away by the fishing and the beauty!
We spent three wonderful weeks in Mocambique .. fishing not great but more than enough for plenty to eat and lots to bring home .. weather was superb. Then we had a week at Mpande on the Wild Coast with all the family, including the grandchildren .. again, superb weather and a truly special family time together. Bruce and Connor then spent a few days in St Francis, where they caught a couple of cracker, and now we are in Argentina for three weeks. We should be home at the beginning of July .. in the meantime, have El Calafate and the Perito Merino glacier, Buenos Aires and the tango (Bruce insisted on a show the night we arrived which meant that we didn´t get to bed until four, SA time, the next morning!), and a campervan to explore the North .. possible fishing, hopefully lots of birding (already seen all sorts of ´lifers´) and long lazy days.
Enjoy the train journey - another awfully big adventure - and the rest of your travels.
Lots of love
Meg and Bruce
When are you due home? We are all missing you but have been enchanted by your extraordinarily articulate, descriptive and oft times poetic descriptions of your adventures.
Looking forward to
!
Hi from Hershey So interesting to read about your adventures on the long trip north. It must have been sad to have to part with Washongi?! Now on to the train trip. Most of us know about Perth and Sydney but not the parts inbetween. Tim - will you be able to see anything of the US Open? Love, JandJ
What a great trek Fantastic final report on the journey - it will be so different in Tassie - you could have traveled around it 6 times with that distance covered.

Travelling Just started on your blog and had to say that your comments about OZ, the people, campervaning were spot on as far as my wife and I are concerned.
I'm 66 and we spent 3 months in a bit smaller campervan.
Can't beat it, can you.
Looking forward to the rest of the blogs.
Let us know when you are back for your next journey

Feedback Hi Guys
To keep me motivated to write BIG emails I really need to know whether you are reveiving our emails? I did ask if you some time back but got no reply to say you were so now I am not sure if you are?? please confirm. I see on the public comments you have responded to some that you are receiving same so maybe go this route. Knowing that you are receiving my emails I will be able to get down and update you on the cricket etc ....Cheers Nev
Reply I am simply telling it as I see it.There is no intention to offend anyone and I would also point out that most countries around the World have their "industrial scars" which are the engines of their economies. You can't hide away from that. That aside,Australia is a truly magnificent country with wonderfuly helpful and friendly people.
Hi from Hershey loving the blogs forwarded by Rory! enjoyed reading your contribution Sue - sounds like a great way to travel. We are not receiving yur blogs here in the USA. I wonder if you get any return comments from us? Love to you both and we look forwrd to the next installment

Port Hedland Sorry to dissappoint, but Port Hedland is Australia's largest international im/exporting Port in the country, and is a vital resource area which keeps our economy going. Not sure if 'ugly industrial scar masquerading as a port' is a very well researched term to call upon??
all very nice to enjoy lovely scenery, but i'm not sure the thousands of hard-working people working their lives away to provide you with the fuel to carry you on your journey would appreciate such utter crap.
Hi from Barrie Dear Tim and Sue
Not sure if my messages are getting through, they do not seem to appear any where. Does not take away from the enjoyment I am getting from reading your bloggs. Tim if yo have any idea of your sort of plans for TASSIE just let us know. I am aware you want to do a move up the East Coast. Lots of flat heads to be caught here, what a pity it is not trout season, next time. Sussie yo look so darned relaxed. Keep the bloggs coming.

Your trip Hello Sue and Tim,
I am cotinuing to enjoy your travel blog and my interest is peaked that I could do this alone one day, hello Bucket list!!! I have only a month to go before I head off to see my 'Boys' and the extended family in England, I am fiddling every day with the suitcase and cant wait to pack up and go. Iam keeping very busy and enjoying my bowls and matches which are on the go. We are enjoying lovely weather befitting May, today being quite cool for a change. The gardens are all still looking lovely and I am busy pruning and clearing up the over growth of Summer. Your garden is faring well in spite of very little rain. I look forward to hearing your future travel experiences.
Love to you both, Deirdre
