We have arrived in Bangkok. It was a rough (read: long-ass) trip. Air China, we learned upon reading online reviews once arriving at the airport, is not one of the higher ranked airlines in terms of customer satisfaction. We boarded the plane to discover that - gasp - there were no mini TV screens! (Side note: Beijing, where we had a layover, was absolutely freezing). Enough with the negativity. Once we landed around midnight, customs was a breeze and even locating our free shuttle to the airport hostel proved a piece of cake. The local Thai's are more than willing to help us out, though most hide ulterior motives to take your green (or in Thailand's case, red, blue, and pink).
