Good to hear you're safe Hey Matt, I'm glad to hear your trip has been fun and interesting and most importantly safe! I can't wait to see the pictures of that market. Bring me back a postcard for my collection. I look forward to hearing more...
Happy New Year to our world traveller.... Hi Matt, all here wish you a very Happy New Year...with the 7 hour time difference it is already after 10 P.M. there so I guess you (and the others) may be getting ready to raise up a glass of spiked goat's milk or God knows what (read Allah in that part of the world) may be the beverage of choice there to ring in the New Year !! Be careful, my many Egyptian friends tell me it carries quite a kick!!
Just remember...if the camels seem to start looking or smelling any better than they did since you guys arrived , it is DEFINITELY time to stop !!!
Luv ya,
Dad , Mom, Mike and Marissa
Great to hear from you...... Hi Matt, real glad to hear that you are well and the trip seems to be going smoothly to this point. Sounds like an interesting place though it seems you are finding it rather different than you imagined ...what with the slaughtering of animals, pools of blood and all. Stay together and be careful....enjoy the time there and we will look forward to hearing from you again when you have a chance. Love and miss ya, Dad
P.S. ...Mom has enjoyed reading your journal entries too and sends her love and wants you to be careful and to stay safe!
hey matt Hey man, glad to hear everything is going great so far. Don't forget the picture of the monkey wearing the hat at the bazaar! Stay safe and look forward to hearing from you soon.
ahhh I love and miss you so much! I cannot believe I just missed your call AGAIN - further evidence for why I hate doing laundry.
Love you - I hope you can call again soon :(
Hey Matt What's up man? Glad to hear all is good so far. Looking forward to reading your next entry. Have a great time and BE SAFE! See you soon. Peace.
Alitalia? It sounds like maybe you went Al Italia? (You mentioned a stop in milan). I just booked that same route (cairo via milan) for next month -- any tips about the flights, etc?
Cairo Hey Matt, I'm glad you guys opted for someone to pick you up despite the suitcase strapped to the hood incident. Alexandria will be a nice breath of fresh air compared to Cairo. Say hello to the Corniche for me.

Down to my last week... Hi Matt, can't say i'm surprised to hear that you are a bit drained after running almost two months at such a frenetic pace. On the flip side, your coming home sounds great to all of us here who have missed you for so long. Dig deep to find the energy for the last few days and send me an e-mail with your arrival flight info.
Looking forward to seeing you real soon,
Miss ya lots! - Dad
Hi Matt Just wanted to say hi and hope all is still going well. Sounds like you had a good time in Slovakia and Herbert sounds like a really nice guy that was able to take the time to show you around and to spend some time with. Dad said you called from Prague on Friday and that Austin would only be with you for a few more days and then he had to go back to Spain. It sounds like you got along well with him and it was great that you had someone to share these experiences with. As far as here everything is fine. We had a really good time at the engagement party yesterday. We had the chance to meet some more of Carolyn's family and they were all very nice. Chris , Winnie and Brendan came back here after along with Grandma and spent a few hours while Jason and Carolyn went to their apartment to show her Dad and step-mom and her sister Jen and her family their new apartment. We saw it last Tuesday. They did a great job setting it up. They painted and Jason even laid down some carpet. Marissa worked today but it was very slow becaus of Memorial Day weekend. Everyone has Monday off which is always nice. We all look forward to your next journal. Stay well. MIss and love you Mom. - mom
if it's Saturday, then this must be Slovakia... Matt, as always, it is great to "hear" from you and get caught up on your journey. I would love to comment on any particular place you visit but b4 I get the opportunity...you are off and in some other country!! Thought I might give you a few key German phrases (so I actually reap some benefit from having studied the language for 4 years) but that's yesterday's news and I can't help you overcoming any Chechoslavakian language barriers...Sorry. Thought I would have more than 20 minutes for the German lesson...anyway keep the news flowing and I hope the local sulphur water causes you no gastrointestinal problems! Love and miss ya! - Dad
In munich Hi Matt, Once again we have all been enjoying your journals and it was great to hear from you again on Marissa's birthday. She was so happy that you called. We went to Nocello's for her birthday and had a good time. After we had cake at the house and later she went out with her friends. Jason and Carolyn moved into their new apartment over the weeekend and are now busy unpacking and settling in. As you can see there in no one here canyoning or riding bikes down the side of mountains. The only excitement we've had here is Jason's car while parked mind you outside of work have the ground give way and the back of his car fall into the hole. He was very upset understandably and had to have his car towed and new tires and rims put on. His boss is paying all the expenses which is really nice of him. Ofcourse his was the only car damaged. The rest of us are all doing fine and are glad to hear that you are having a woderful time. Stay well and look forward to seeing what else you've been up to. Mom - christine critelli
U little bitch Staying an extra 3 weeks? Bastard!....F.Y.I. -- B.J. has been trasferred to Yonkers, Fine is leaving to go to Friday's, and we have new posi-touch computers to get use to. If my pet's heads starting falling off, I'm moving to Aspen. Thanks for the b-day IM the other week. P.S. German Food Sucks! - Izzo
As if the italians need more time off... Exactly what did you mean to imply with your comment "As if the italians need more time off..." As a prominent member of the Italian-American Society I must unfortunately take umbrage at your comment (and I think even challenge you to a duel, though I am not absolutely certain) in order to defend all of our members...which btw, include your Grandmother!! Don't apologize...just don't let it happen again... Love from all us here that you left behind...Dad - Dad
Close call I'm glad to hear that you weren't missing anything. Like you said it is a wake up call. Glad you are still having a good time. By the way, we are having a girl. God help us!! - Chris

This are quiet with out you home these past few weeks. It sounds like your trip has been exciting and interesting so far. Hope Italy is what you expect it to be and you continue to have a lot of fun enjoy yourself, im jealous!! love you lotss xoxo - Marissaaa
Italy hey dude-
u're line about street signs made me laugh. that was good.
I was talkin to my mom about Italy. She said to make sure u have a lot of time for Florence which was her fav, and that Capri and Alfani Coast are beautiful. She also spent a lot of time in Naples and said other than Mt. Vesuvius, there's not too much to see. However, she said the food is amazing, and she had the best pizza ever while there. All my relatives live in Naples, so if u meet anyone with last name Izzo and they have relatives by the name of Michael (my father), Raymond (my uncle) and Pina (my Aunt - pronunciation -- rhymes with Tina) within the USA, they're family. I've never met them, so just say you're Chris Izzo, and you'll have a place to stay. Good luck. - Izzo
Daily Reading Matt - Your journal is great. Please continue to write as often as you have been. Neil and I read it as soon as we see there is a new posting. We also passed the link to Mike. He's hooked too. We're all very jealous. Trisha - Patricia
I'm a 22 year old who's put off the real world long enough to go on a 6 week backpacking trip all over europe. Although I've never been to Europe before I have traveled to China, Mexico, the Caribbean and the southeastern U.S.... full info
