Blog - 24 October 2007 After leaving Denver, we drove west through really beautiful scenery and more snow. We passed a few high passes, one being Monarch Pass at 11,000 feet. In the gift shop they had a full display of hunting rifles and pistols but, thankfully, you need American ID with clean record to buy one. We stayed in a beautiful little town called Salida at a lovely motel called the Silver Ridge Lodge. This lodge had stone walls and looked really authentic Rocky Mountains Style. I can just image what this place and the mountains look like in winter, I can’t image living here in winter though.
