Heading back to southeast asia for our fifth trip to the lands of noodles, temples, and smiles. My backpack is ready to go complete with new toys for the children-spinning tops, super balls, stickers, and the old standby, spider rings. Along with a few change of clothes, some gifts for friends, and Secret Clinical Waterproof Anti-Perspirant, I am ready to go!
First stop after an overnight layover in Bangkok is Yangon, Myanmar (Rangoon, Burma). This is a new country for us and we could not be more excited to visit a land in the midst of so much change (hopefully for the good). In April, we were waiting for the visas to arrive and getting a little nervous because they hadn\'t come yet-we needed the passports for Ireland. I called the Burmese Embassy to see if I could find out what the holdup was and talked with a very sweet man. When I gave my last name, he said, \"Hello Susan Elizabeth!\". No money orders for them-only cash. Sent the money and received the passports right away with the visas intact.
After Burma will be Cambodia (Phnom Penh, Kampot, Siem Reap), and then Vietnam (Saigon, Danang, Hoi An, Cham Island, Nha Trang, Mui Ne) where we will meet up with friends who are turning into family. Oh-and a layover in Seoul, South Korea, so Steven and I can take a lot of pictures for Jill and Lisa because they miss it so much.
I hope everyone enjoys the blog as much as I enjoy writing it. The only thing I wish is that everyone could be with us.
Suzie and Steven
