Reply Hi Steve, not sure what the role I assumed it was as an UNMO, I am trying to contact a fellow Royal Marine who has done the job before to find out more.
I live and work in Bath and would be happy to give you a bed for a night or two if you are coming down that way during your leave.
I think I missed the '935' off my email address on my first post but the one I have put in on this entry is correct, if you wanted to contact me direct.
Keep safe
Julian
Would you be filling an UNMO or SO posn with the mission? As of yet I have not seen any British UNMO's only a few SO's in Khartoum. I will actually be touring Scotland/England during my first leave block (if it all works out).
Great Blog Hi Steve - found your blog on a google search, hope you dont mind my making a comment. I am a Britsh Royal Marine Major looking at doing a six month tour with UNMIS next year, so am finding your blog very useful and will check it out regularly, looking forward to the next entry.
Keep safe and God bless
Regards
Julian Moran
very cool I was not aware that Sudan had pyramids! They look like they where brushed in Gold? Is that the just the sun shinning in the photo or was there some sort of paint applied?
great pics Hi Steve,
Sounds like you had quite an adventure all around visiting the pyramids. It's a good thing you had a guide.
Was it even hotter inside the pyramids? Glad everything worked out after taking shots of the hidden camp.
Bye for now
I will only be in Khartoum for another week or so, the majority of my time will be spent in the south. But it should give good overall picture of the issues in Sudan.
Also on my way to Sudan Steve, I will be following your blog as you settle into life in Khartoum - since I am beginning to think about my own upcoming Sudanese adventure. I will be moving to Sudan at the end of July to teach at an international school in the capital. Wish you luck!
What you brought with you Hi, I am heading to Sudan to work for UNMIS in a few weeks. I would love any advice you have on what to pack. I got the big guide, but it's like a camping list, so any advice on what to bring for a 6-month assignment in the field greatly appreciated.
