2 weeks in Quito, Ecuador In the mornings we were learning Spanish with our teacher, Martha. In the afternoons we were helping out the children at foundation ALDEC. We stayed with a host family, Susana and Alejandro Lopez de Cobo, who cooked great, huge, meals. One weekend we visited Otavalo with Barbara (a German girl from our Spanish school) for the huge markets and also visited the animal markets and the crater lake Lago Cuicocha and the nearby leather-producing town Cotacachi. The next weekend we stayed at Yolandas' very nice house which she generously lent us for a few days. On the Sunday we visisted Mitad del Mundo (the middle of the world) and the real equator as well as following a guide up the edge of Volcano Pululahua.
