Response to Mark Hi Mark!
Thanks for the comment.
You know, one thing that I have noticed is that travellers like to pretend that everything is great. Because, they spent so much money, and prepared for the trip, everything is supposed to be wonderful, or it feels like a failure.
I was like that too at first and when the first two weeks really sucked, it was hard to admit. But it´s just reality, some things really really suck.
Nevertheless, I had an incredible experience here, nothing like I expected it to be, but awesome. It was not always fun, but working with those kids was so rewarding.
I´m ready to go home with tons and tons of memories. Some good and some bad. But thats just the way life is.
lol ... I've had several similar bus rides in Ecuador. I understand completely that Ecuador can be a trying environment. But anyway, I just wanted to leave a comment to tell you that I found your blog, and just love your honest take on things. You don't butter up your entries ... you tell it like it is. I respect that.
Hang in there Dear Stephanie,
Please keep teaching at the school. You have a real love for these children, and they need you as a bright spot in their day and hope for the future. It is great that you went to Ecuador to teach and work, not to party. Please keep being the inspiration you are and tell me more about your work there. I now represent an exchange student from Ecuador, and I am sure your experience there can give me some insight into his background. Please email me, Sheila_Beers@hotmail.com or send postal mail to Sheila Beers, 110 Logan Street, Argos, IN 46501-1221, United States.
I know I'm late getting to your travel blog, but I'll try to catch up. I told you not to take pictures of the locals without paying them didnt i? I got cussed out, but not attacked. sounds like fun so far.
Stick in there...... Well, it sounds like you are having the experience of your life. Remember, everything is going to be ok and it will get better. You will succeed at what you went there for. All my faith is with you.....Jeremy and I both miss you and we send our love to you!!
Love You! You are fab! Don't ya know that's why I put TP in garbarge now and not in toilet--b/c of living in Mexico! It's standard for the host family not to eat with you...remember how i tried to get you to prepare for trip with language and cultural tips and you refused?! Dis is why I recomm. you do so--things like weather at night, etc. Oh well, this is why you are doing this--to learn about yourself! I love you and miss you already
Mere
Hi everyone! Thought I'd use a blog to keep in touch with all of you. No idea how often I will have access to a computer though, but we'll see.
Soooooooo, leaving in 3 days. As usual nothing ready and I have to say that while I'm excited, I am REALLY scared about this whole thing.
Alright, so I will be back on here in a few days. Keep in touch, it will be great to read you when I get lonely!
Stef.
