Hi Jill!! I'm so happy to read of your life and adeventures. I'm glad you are well and healing up. Let me know when you do about the type of stone! I'll lay some of my dietary knowledge on you. Fun for me to reaad ALL the details of what you used to urge the stone's departure! I will visit you one day! I'm studying for my licensing exam in Traditional Chinese Medicine- herbology, western med, acupuncture, the works! The California Acupuncture Licensing Exam is the hardest of the country-- a pass rate of 51% for first try! But maybe that's 80% from my school-- anyway. I'm studying hard- been doing full days everyday since December- the exam is April 10- think of me then! Sending you love. amy
Yay Jill !! Twas so great to see you up and about last week, and am sending you healing vibes continously. Just take great care not to overdo. Thanks for the update. Hope to see you soon!!
It is a given that you draw wonderful people to you. What a wonderful and supportive group you have! I'd say you're lucky but really you're a magnet! So glad you continue to enjoy you life and get through the rough times with your stubborn self-advocacy and support from your local family. xoxoxoxoxo

Happy Homecoming to You Hi Jill, It was enjoyable to read the account of getting your new home ready for the house warming party. It must feel great to have your own place and to be able to fix it up as you like, it is a thrill, unfortunately your health crisis was timed poorly to say the least. Glad that passed. Your paths for walking are beautiful and your dog seems to be very happy such a beautiful area. We are in mid winter, cold and dreary. here in Massachusetts I have just about stopped working and I am waiting for my husband to retire in May. We have a new puppy. a Teddy Bear named Peppah, such a fun dog, fills my day with joy. We still long to get back to Ecuador , I miss it quite a bit so reading your blog is great, feels like I am there. Do not be discouraged with your first renter, most people are good tenants as I have found with my own rentals in the US. It is fun to meet new people and get some extra money. Glad your adventure is going well. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Beautiful home! So glad that you recovered so quickly and that you're healthy again, Jill. The house and the pup are beautiful! Miss you! Happy thanksgiving, my dear friend!
Beautiful House! Hi, Jill, I am so sorry that your week before the housewarming was so excruciating but thankful that it all resolved. What a beautiful place you have created! As for the Air BnB, I doubt if most experiences are as horrific. In the States they charge a clearning fee (a lot) and some charge a refundable security deposit.
moving into my own home Hi Jill, congratulations on your new home! I wish I could be there for your house-warming & give you a hug. Sounds like you have been working very hard, so I guess that means you're feeling well, which I'm glad to hear. I hope you will be very happy in your new place and look forward to seeing more pictures. Abrazos, Bonnie
Hi Jill Great to hear about your time at the hotel. I hope you are feeling much better. What fun to have your own house and to make it beautiful the way you want it. Enjoy.
Life's divine! Delightful, dear Jillie! Looking forward to seeing you one of these days. And may this next season bring you greater health and happiness.
travels & transitions Hi Jill, congratulations on your new house! You are probably living in it by now (sorry to write so late). I'm now living in a retirement community in Portland & am so glad to be here instead of sizzling Tucson, although I do miss the sun in the winter months. I'm glad you had such a nice visit with your dad & am always interested in hearing your latest adventures.
Memories of when La Bib started ... and our time in Banos ... Hi Jill, Not sure if you remember us, Connie and Chris, who volunteered, with a puppet circus, at La Bib in its first year. Strangely I came upon your blog and was happy to see that life is treating you well. We have been in touch, at times, with Karl. Banos is so fortunate to have you guys there - super people! If you are still in touch with odd and Bobby, please say hi to them from us.
Enjoy Your Blog Your blog is so interesting, I enjoy reading about your adventures. You seem to have many good friends and you treat them well. I have been reading the Blogs on Suth Of Zero for a number of years. It seems that not many people still blog, sad. But you are still there and that makes us so happy! We have been to Quito, Cuenca, Montineta, Giron,Paute, and Otavaldo. I was knocked down by a mad cow when we were exploring the waterfall - what a hoot.. We have about 27 months until we can retire and hope to spend at least 6 months in Cuenca, which we love. We do specialized foster care and we have to wait until the last child goes to college. He is an African refugee we have had for four years. Congats on the purchase of the house, its nice that now you can fix it up as you like and make some money. My husband is worried about buying not sure of the political situation, but you took the plunge. Someday i hope we can meet, perhaps you could show us around Banos - we will take you to dinner! When we first came in 2011 I contacted Ed Staton and we got the scoop from him at dinner and has remained a friend - small world. Take care and continue to enjoy yourself.
I first came to Ecuador in the late 1980's to teach English in Quito. I fell in love with this country, the natural beauty, the warmth and generosity of the people. I went on to work in international education on nearly every continent, but Ecuador kept calling me back. This Chicago girl has a "latina soul"! I've now been back in Ecuador, living here as a permanent resident since 2006. I have done all different kinds of work, from private teaching to teacher training to working with American volunteers as a driver/interpreter to filling in as a substitute hotel manager. I like to keep my sched... full info
