Looooooove the 1/2 wall!!!!! I am sooo happy for you!!!! I love that after all these years of collecting and packing and shipping and mailing and saving that you made your vision a reality. Your home is truly an expression of you!!! And all the people that get to enjoy it, both invited and passers-by. Like the homes we used to envy - you got one!!!!!!
Sorry about your eye misery! Glad it's over!
sight & vision Jill, so sorry your cataract surgery was so traumatic, but gracias a Dios, it all ended up ok. Love your new bottle wall, you are so creative! best wishes, Bonnie
thanks for sharing I love reading your blog. Sorry I have not left comments before. Life has been crazy busy, as always, but I love reading your adventures.
River rafting on rapids?!??! Holy crap! Brave!!!! Glad to see you're doing well and your time with Tova +1 was fun! I seriously don't know how you don't tire of all the driving and schlepping people around to all these sites you've seen so many times! I totally get how family is an exception for excitement. Happy that you enjoyed staying in your spare bed!
I love hearing about and peeking into your life - thanks for this, Jill. I'm interested to hear about the house you're buying and where you've been staying in Banos. Maybe I can help do mosaics when I visit - always wanted to do that with stones.
across america via amtrak As always, love to hear of your adventures & was sorry not to be living in Tucson anymore while you were there. Sending you abrazos & best wishes for the holidays
Wow - One HECK of a Trip Jill, Nobody, I mean NOBODY, can get as much out of a trip as you can. Not so sure I want to do a long Amtrak trip after reading your stories -perhaps a shorter one. LOVE your mosaic class in Asheville - remember the lady int he mosaic store in Tucson who knew your friend? Small world indeed. Looking forward to reading more about your adventures. Love, Kathy & Bernie P.S. THREE photos of me is a bit much!!
Thanks for sharing news of your adventures. I'm so glad to hear you've been using the rice wrappers! I love those things, and have been finding endless ways to stuff them. I've also double-triple stacked them and used them in lasagna-like layered baked recipes. I'm happy to hear you're also feeling much betters. Big love to you, Mama J.
mama tungurahua is my neighbor Jill, I hope when you're back in the US you can make it up to Portland. Would love to see you! So sorry to hear about your bad luck day, but you always bounce back stronger than ever. Stay well.
So Sorry Jill, I don't remember hearing the news of our father's passing; we were traveling on the 15th and not on Facebook. I know you and he had a special bond and you will be missing him for the rest of your life; sad by true. He did live a long and left behind a wonderful family - what a legacy!! Our deepest sympathy for your loss. Kathy & Bernie
zig-zagging across the Andes jill, I was so sorry to hear about your father. I know it is a comfort to you to know that he had a good long life and lots of love from his family. As usual, your adventures leave me astounded at how much you accomplish . You are like the proverbial bunny, just keep on going! Abrazos, Bonnie
From Atlanta Dear Jill, love to read your blog, even though I have not been writing to you. Can everyone see it? I'll try to send the link to our friends Matt and Bobby. They are moving to Quito. Matt is a former colleague of Ted's and was hired as an English professor at the university there. I told them about all your adventures and community activism. Maybe you'll get to meet them some time. Ted and I might embark on a trip to South America next year. I'll be in touch! Many greetings and love from ATL, Regina
Very cool blog Jill and thanks for the mention of the BIB. Wow it's made me tired sitting and reading about all the travels and all the friends you've hauled around.
Whoo hoo! So glad you're feeling better!! And very excited to see all your artwork dreams coming true. Sounds like you had a fun and productive month xoxo
visitors and house art omg, Jill, I felt your pain! thankfully, you came thru it successfully & are now back to your exciting life. Your house is just adorable & I loved the new art work you have done on it. It's always so nice hearing from you. Stay well!
I first came to Ecuador in the late 1980's to teach English in Quito. I fell in love with this country, the natural beauty, the warmth and generosity of the people. I went on to work in international education on nearly every continent, but Ecuador kept calling me back. This Chicago girl has a "latina soul"! I've now been back in Ecuador, living here as a permanent resident since 2006. I have done all different kinds of work, from private teaching to teacher training to working with American volunteers as a driver/interpreter to filling in as a substitute hotel manager.
