Do you know of any good hospitals around the Hai Phong area? Do you know of any good hospitals around the Hai Phong area?
I'm desperate; I'm an American, but my grandfather who is still living in Vietnam had went into a small clinic to check on a cough and they ended up injecting orange juice into him and now it's been three weeks and he's in a very dire state. My family over in there has taken him to a different hospital, and they poked a hole in his throat so he could breathe easier, but he's spent all the weeks with a tube in his throat so he could be fed. And now they want to kick him out because there's nothing they can do apparently.
If you know any good hospitals, please let me know.
Sorry, not familiar Sorry I only knew of the Da Nang Hospital, I'm unfamiliar with the Hai Phuong area but wish you the best in seeking proper medical attention for your grandfather

Danang Hospital My father was a U.S. surgeon in the "then new" hospital in Danang in the Spring of 1964. I will be visiting there very briefly this Wednesday to see if anything looks like some of the pictures I inherited. Your story was very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
I am always so amazed at how well-written your posts are. They are such a pleasure to read, especially considering the falling standards of journalism recently.
It's also interesting that you color code things and people, I haven't thought about the world that way.
Golden tongue for a gold country Terrific blog, Squirrel!
I first thought that this was a current / recent trip to Bulgaria, but then I re-read the headline. Did I understand it correctly that this was an unpublished blog post from a 2010 trip that you are just posting now? Either way, wonderfully crafted, fresh & fun to read :-)

Dear Sherry and Karen,
I am very happy that there are still people like you who are willing to help the less fortunate people " the differently abled persons" there in Vietnam. I hope the that the Lord will give you more success and strenght so that you will help more of this people. I am also a differently abled person and I finished my degree in fine arts and my M.A. in art education inspite of this I could hardly land a job. its because of my condition here in the Philippines there are bills that are made for disabled persons but the implementation is weak. but I will try again to send my resume application letters I hope I will be lucky this time. by the way can you send me a photo of the 3 wheel motorbike with its operation manual thankyou and Happy New Year to you all
I was in a Navy Civic Action team at the hospital I was there in 66/67 , with no formal skills, we did what we could to help the situation.
I will forever remember the USAID/Cords doctors and nurses.

I just turned 39 this past Saturday - yoweeezowee I freakin out.about the impending big 40. Anyway I hope all is well. Just sending you good vibes from times long past. No need to respond if you don't feel comfortable. I still do a mean shadow puppet by the way.

Life is like hell in Vietnam for ordinary people I am a native of Danang currently living in the U.S.A. These horror photos and stories show that the poor in Vietnam are deliberately left behind in a country virtually every communist official is rich even by the U.S. standards. If we could 'take' a little bit of resources from the communist ruling class, we would be able to feed and treat all of these abandoned Vietnamese and make their lives whole lot better. This confirms that the communists are heartless people. The Vietnamese people have been oppressed for so long. So they need to rise up against their "VC masters" because they have nothing to lose but shackles and chains as Karl Marx predicted more than a hundred years ago.
Inspiring Sherry it's incredible to see how much you have achieved in one month in Vietnam. It's wonderful to see your commitment, creativity, endurance, talent and drive being channeled into something so worthwhile.
CONGRATULATIONS Hi Sherry - Congratulations on your fantastic achievements in Hoi An! I appreciate just how hard it must have been to accomplish such alot in Vietnam. Awesome!
I began traveling in my early twenties and found that the experience offered a mind opening perspective of life in relation to the lives of others around the world. Since then, I've explored over 40 different countries, immersed in their cultures and customs, many of which lack the freedom of artistic creation and expression. Recognizing the many opportunities she was afforded in life, like an art education, would become the driving force behind my motivation...... full info
