one month and counting An interesting commentary for someone who has nothing to say. We will be glad to have you back in the US and we will be very glad to also be back a few days after you arrive. We get back on Dec.16 around midnight. Can't wait for the full catch up of the experience. Will you go back to the East again? Will you continue with the language? What is coming next for you? WOW! Interesting times are coming down the pike. Love Ya, Nana
Wonderful Dave and I really enjoyed your travel through the tastes of China. Interesting to see how many of the things you find interesting also exist in Japan under slightly different names -like Mabo dofu. It has been really fun to keep up with your semester in China through this blog.
Great one! Loved this observation on the infant life and how to avoid diaper rash in China. In Japan we used to see mothers holding their tots out over the railroad tracks at a very busy station with their butts exposed so they can pee there. In addition men cuddle up to a telephone post or light pole almost anywhere and take a leak. Different strokes for different folks.
Hope all is well. Love, Nana

Lhasa Mal,
I LOVE your entries, they are hilarious to read! I really wish I was there with you. But hey--this just means we can travel to Tibet together sometime. I desperately want to go, so let's plan a trip. It'd be hilarious to travel with you, in any case. Love you! Caroline
Hey guess what? hey i think i will fill you in since you're not here. So it turns out i probably won't go to france because we didn't realize my scholarship didn't transfer. So the crazy thing is that i might go to china too, but to Hong Kong so way different and far from you but that's kinda cool. We would both be able to speak chinese, mandarin. hopefully and chat. cool stuff. Maybe france still somehow, but i am kinda excited for the idea that i might go to China. so yeah just thought i should keep you filled in and posted. Miss ya sis. hope you're having fun!
Love the descriptions So here I am writing to you from Kleinmond, South Africa. We have been here just almost exactly a week. Have had rain a few nights and a bit on one of the days but the big adjustment is to the coolness after the heat of So Cal. We are enjoying getting to know the area and the people here and so far mostly we are on our own to walk and do as we like. We are "on Duty" after 4:30 in the afternoon and through the night so if there is ever a problem then we will have to deal with it or call someone who can. Since it is a retreat center there are almost always people here and there is also a group of staff who live on the grounds we can turn to when we have a problem. WE are within walking distance of the beach and the mountains are literally across the road from where we are staying. Not too shabby.
Glad you are getting along and enjoying all the new experiences waiting there for you. It sounds like a really great place for you to be. Looking forward to your next blog. Love and hugs from Nana and Papa
HAPPY TO HEAR FROM YOU HEY TRAVELLER, SOUNDS LIKE SOME INTERESTING ADVENTURES. LOOKING FORWARD TO SOME PICTURES OF THE SCHOOL AND ROOMS. DID YOU GET TO THE GREAT WALL IN BEJING??
KEEP THE BLOGS COMING, WE LOVE THEM.
GRAMPS AND GRANNY
Nice to hear about the first few weeks Wow, Mal - it was fun to hear some descriptions of the first few weeks - Grandma and Grandpa were here when we read the blog so we all enjoyed it together. Mom wants to know if you saw the Great Wall?!
Keep the descriptions coming ... what becomes "ordinary" for you is all still really new for all of us, and we really enjoy hearing from you.
