What a treat to get 2 blogs in one day!! Loving every moment of your trip. If we weren't booked through 2012, I'd be checking this out for us.BTW, I am following with interest the luggage challenge for the Halversons. Am glad they have rece
ived at least one piece. Reminds me of our cruise to Alaska and the couple who were celebrating their 50th anniversay. They never got their luggage until the last day of the cruise!

Tommye, I've seen the canopy in different Masses, etc. What is the significance of the twisted pillars. Love the blog and pictures....Keep 'em coming.
7th August 2011

I missed the significance if they told us. I just seems that everything Bernini did was beautiful ... and elaborate! Thanks for the nice comments.

Viva Amalfi! Don't you love the way they plant something for every layer from vines on the ground to trees in the same small beds? Reminds me of the animals in Africa that have evolved to eat at every level--so very thrifty with the res
ources and so beautiful to view... Enjoy!

Sounds like you were looking to find steel and concrete there...and maybe some malls out in the African plains maybe? And what was that part about it being ugly? It's nature as God intended it.Not a manicured lawn by some poor hounded Latinos
.Americans....their ignorance never ceases to amuse!

Amboseli Amboseli looks absolutely parched compared to when we were there last year. There were hundreds of elephants, wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, topis, etc. Blogs from the Amboseli Elephant Project have all mentioned how dire the d
rought conditions are and how stressed the animals have become. Some elephant families have left the area despite danger from poachers in other parts of Kenya.
