When I was a little girl --- It's wonderful to see pictures of the incline today! When I was a little girl, about 3 or 4 years old, (later 1940's) we lived in a construction community near the base of the incline. In the evening everyone would go outside in the spring, summer and fall....to watch the bears come down the steep bank, only to take our chairs and toys and go inside for the evening as the bears roamed from house to house checking out the metal garbage cans...hoping someone had forgotten to secure the lid. My Dad, Charles Wilder Ayerst was the "paymaster" on that construction project.
Love this Shirley what a delightful description of the trip with some very nice photos. I am so glad that I had a chance to see this. Would you mind if I sent it on to AFC?
Lovely Pictures! Shirley, you had a grand adventure. I love your photographs and your vivid descriptions of the natural wonders, literary masterpieces (Steinbeck), and beautiful lodges you visited. Truly "California Dreamin'." I love those towering Sequoia trees. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! I appreciate your comments, Sherri. It was pure luck to go to the tulip fields on a sunny day--perfect for photos. I wonder if Koross would find a way to take any original photos that haven't been seen before?! S.
Thanks! I appreciate your comments about the tulip fields. I thought they would help relieve any homesickness you might have in the spring. It was pure luck to get a sunny day--perfect for pictures! S.
Hi,
Your pictures are absolutely postecard perfect! What a beautiful day for sightseeing. The colors are so brilliant.
Makes me miss the sights of "home."
Beautiful!!! Wonderful photographs, Shirley. I'm so glad you shared them with us. The brilliant tulip fields and displays simply shout, "Happy Spring!"
I have traveled to 48 cities on five continents and all of the United States. My foreign adventures were with the Department of State Citizen Ambassador Program. Since 1990, former communist countries have reorganized as democratic federations. Russia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, and others invited American judges, lawyers, and court officials to teach them western law. We went into courtrooms, labor farms, and prisons. I saw China's leaders end human rights with the Tiananmen Square Massacre. Almost everyone yearns for liberty, freedom, and justice. I am glad I was there to help. Note: ... full info
