I sure love pictures! Hi my sweet heart - We miss you and love you and just wanted to say we're thinking of you and have you in our prayers always. Hope everyone is back to good health. That's great that you all relaxed and chilled out at home this evening. You know me, I love to stay home after work. :-) People from FM say hi, and my co-workers are enjoing your blog too. We are all learning so much through your eyes, it's wonderful.
pictures not working Hey sweetie; I'm not sure what's going on but none of the pictures are appearing on either my or G's computer...
I can't wait to see your prom dress! I bet it's so pretty. (I don't know if it was in one of the pics or not b/c they're not working)...and although I think the Louis Vuitton is probably a knockoff, I'm sure it looks fabulous!
love ya babe. i have to go see a beetle George killed so he can stop telling me about it. bbye!

hola chica Hellooo Shirmine, thank you for the picture! your hair loots hoooooottttt! next time you need to straighten your hair then take a picture so i can see how it looks that way :)
i'm glad you survived the hospital and the market one day after the other...i guess it seems a little different than what you'd usually see in harrisonburg :) although some crazy stuff goes on there too...
hope you're doing well, can't wait to read the next blog! love you! kisses!
HEY! I just got your e-mail today finally, I haven't had a chance to check it in awhile. I miss you soo much and have enjoyed catching up with what you have been doing. I'm glad to see that you seem to be having a great time. You'll have to let me know when is a good time to give you a call so I can talk to you! I've been praying for your safety and am glad that you're doing well. Much love!!
Busy times... Hey Shir, what we heard of you on the phone was great but there was some kind of sporadic data loss thing going on which made it difficult-to-impossible to decipher what you were saying. I would attribute it to probably precipitation interference with microwave signal propagation. Figured it'd be better to talk again soon on a clearer day rather than keep repeating what? what? what? hehe Good you got to go to the hospital under the circumstances of 'touring' so to speak. I'm sure if you can get past the psycological barriers you can make it into a valuable learning experience. These are the things taht happen to us people; and we need help at these times (not pena nor asco), so it's of essential importance that we have good caring people who are willing to help others. And of course since most people would rather not work so hard, nor deal with suffering, nor can accept the viewpoint that it is helping people - the compensation tends to be high. Not everyone's cut out for doctoring, either; it takes a lot of committment to study the necessary background information, the personality to appreciate and deal with people, the mindset to concentrate on helping and not dwell on suffering, and the dedication to work the hours and also keep abreast with developments in the field. As for your hair, I'm gonna frikkin' keel ya - it seems to look fine but I think you lost way too much and probably not going to be nearly as full and thick when it's down and clean (no added goo). At least we won't have to worry about getting hurt when you turn around for a while..... Glad to hear you're getting a workout and staying in shape (if you ever get to play with any of the guys there you need to be prepared to school 'em hehehe). Looks like you've gotten as dark as Dorita now and you probably blend right in with the residents. Well I'll wish you a great day tomorrow and a 'fruitful' visit to the finca. Maybe you can report on all the differnt kinds of fruits, vegetables, and other edibles that you find there - their names, pictures, and their properties (preparations, taste, purported nutritional values, etc.). You know we'd appreciate being reminded of all taht plus when you forget you'll have the report to look back on and refresh your memory. Love you much; Sleep well...
Hospital, etc. Your experience at the hospital reminds me of my internship at RMH. I saw some pretty sick things there (pardon the pun). It's an eye-opening experience, but I hope that you don't have to go back there again! I'm glad that we were able to hear from mom and dad, even on their anniversary! Tina and I may try to call you in the future. I've never made an international call before, but I'm willing to try it. :) Now, about the World Cup...which four teams will make it to the semifinals, do you think? I predict that Brazil will smash France (Spain should knocked France out already). I hope that Portugal will beat England, and that the Ukraine will defeat Italy, but it'll probably go the other way around. As far as Germany versus Argentina... that will be a killer game. Since I don't want a repeat of the last World Cup Final, I'd like to see Germany lose. Besides, it would be more interesting with 2 Latin American teams and 2 European teams than only having Brazil in the mix.
Hi Sweetheart You look so beautiful with your colored shirt, neckband, earrings, and face paint! Something tells me you were the most enthusiastic fan at the theater ;) It was a fun market for us too; everything is set up so differently there, but yet, in beautiful simplicity. Many independant vendors, and bartering in trade. All kinds of fresh stuff, and other stuff, hehe You got to enjoy some nice restaurants there, how great! And learing ping-pong, eh? Did you ever get to beat Dorita at a game? Love you and miss you so much! So glad you're having such a wonderful experience though :)
The "Gold" Church This is La Merced Church, right? Great pictures honey pie. I truly, truly, truly love your blog. Andreita looks so grownp up already. You are right, she is a cutie pie! Love you!
I enjoy your blog so
much Shir, and I look forward every time to see it and read it. I
know is lot of work and you do a wonderful job on your diary. Keep
on rocking. Lots of Koodos to you mi armorcito, my sweet angle
pie!
hola! Shirminnneee I miss you and love you!! I want to come visit you in Ecuador...if only I had the $$$$. Next time, though, we're all goin'!
I can't wait to see you with your new hair do..you'll have to trim it again before you come home though to have the full effect! :) We're keepin' busy here, per usual. Tryin' to get settled in here, Traci visited, my mom is comin' today to get her and bring us a dresser so that our clothes don't have to lie in piles on the floor like the are now...although they don't really have to lie in piles on the floor, we're messy....you know how we are.
Anyway...love ya tons, love to read your blogs, keep writin'!
Copa Mundial It's hard to see Ecuador go. You're absolutely right, though; they played an amazing game. If only Delgado had scored on his breakaway! Too bad Beckham can bend the ball so well...
England may have gotten through to the quarterfinals, but I have a gut feeling that Portugal may give them more trouble than they're ready for. Germany v. Argentina is going to be an awesome show. Both teams are extremely skilled. I'd like to see the Cinderella team, Ghana, advance, but Brazil is definitely the favorite between the two teams. I'd also like to see Spain defeat France, although it will be good to watch Zidane work his magic once more.
With that said, I hope that we don't see a repeat of the 2002 World Cup Final, with Brazil v. Germany. All I know is that I need to stock up on some baby food so that I can appease my infantile taste as I consume game after game of world-class soccer. It's almost too good to be true. By the way, is it the Gerber's brand or another? Haha, be well and take care. Love, G
go ghana haha, jk on the title. Though I havent liked the US team since back in the days of Alexi Lallas.
I talked to my grandfather today, and he told me that the catholic church that he paid for and oversaw the building and dedication of is in Canal Ocho (if I have the spelling correct), and its in the province of Guayaquil itself. If you get the chance, you should go check it out with the Loyola family.
I am getting better, although my ribs still hurt a whole lot, and my upper body is still largely covered in bruises, but I dont know...it doesnt seem as bad as I though it would. Plus, the hair on my head covers the lacerations there, and as for my chest...those are getting better, and I think that those cuts will probably fade soon actually. I feel like there is some redemption to it though, in the fact that I helped that woman out (understatement), but well...it still doesnt make laying down in bed any less painful. Oh well, chicks dig scars right? haha
Well, I got to have dinner and talk at great length with the Minister of the Interior (again) as well as the President of Sudan himself! It was incredible. There is so much about that man that I didnt expect, and he certainly doesnt seem like the crazy butcher that the press and the world portrays him to be, although from what he has ordered and done, I still think he is.
I hope you are enjoying yourself, and are staying safe and pain free (unlike me, although the nature of my job here isnt exactly safe, so oh well). I hope that you and everyone else in the loyola fam. gets better, and no that I am praying for you. Btw, what would be a good day and time to call, I called when it would've been around 9:45 ish in ecuador, and they said you werent there. Just let me know when you;ll be around, as I cant wait to talk to you.
Its about time for me to head out for the day, as we have one more day of preparation before we head out to cover the whole Darfur region over a couple day period. Talk to you soon, my love.
Love,
David
Get Better, etcetera We pray for you all to get over your colds and return to normal quickly! And yes, a great highlight of the evening to read your blog! Thinking you'll just have to start busting that stereotype and show them boys you can rock it like the rest of them. :) Perhaps should'a brought some videos along of you playing? Comment some more later - right now it's time to hop on a mattress... nitey-night cutie pie!
Hi Precious!
Viva Italia! I'm sorry, but I am rooting for Italy this time around, my cousins fiancee is playing on that team. saw the USA game, although it is hard to do it over here (time constraints/difference and availability of actual tv to watch relatively comfortably).
I perfectly understand what you mean about being wiped out and tired. I feel the same right about now, although for diff. reasons. I dont really wanna get into it again, but its all on my blog. My whole body hurts so bad, especially my back and ribs. I wish you were here to make it better...but it'd have to be just by prescence alone, b/c its so bad I couldnt even hug you right about now.
Do be careful Shirlina, I dont want anything to happen to you. I made a concious decision and abandoned my better judgement yesterday, but I def. am reaping the consequences for it. The good news is that I'll be outta here on Sunday-Monday.
Show the kids how we play in USA! The soccer there (its funny how I cant say "here" right now) is where its at. I wont play anymore, since HS is over for me now, but o well.
Have fun, baby. Btw, what would be a good day/time to call you? I tried to call a while after I got back from the hospital, but you werent there. Just let me know, I cant wait to talk to you.I guess I have some more stuff to tell you, but it'd make more sense after having read my blog. talk to you soon.
Love,
David
Shir vs. Semillita, for the championship ;-) Wow Shir, Looks like you've been making new inroads! hehe Should be fun to show them kids some soccer tricks - and have 'em school ya haha! But hey, that's if your feet aren't too tired still. That seems like too many malls for one day. BTW, since it's earlier there than here, by an hour, that means the game is starting at 10 here. We're hoping to watch it later; G's gonna record it. Well I see you're almost a full-fledged sports analyist for fútbol; maybe you can interpret the game for people around if you get to watch tomorrow :) We feel for Srta. Dora and pray she regains her voice quickly and for God to restore her health and give her a comfortable and continued highly productive life. We know how much she loves to be involved and doing things; we love her and wish her the best. Love you; hasta luego!
Ah, Germany Well... the first half just ended and the score is 2-0 Germany :( Sure they are a formidable opponent but a tie woulda been nice (I guess theoretically it's still possible). Anyway, let's just keep supporting Ecuador (in spirit from here) whatever the outcome, as they will go on regardless. I've got my "ECUADOR ALEMANIA 2006" shirt on so every 100th person who sees it will know I'm supporting! Well God bless you baby - and yes, eat the sharks before they eat you - hehe... Love ya!
Hola, hermana. Hey, Shirlo! I'm really diggin' the bloggin' action. Good work. Just to let you know, I'm recording a selection of World Cup matches for you to view when you return. I'll be sure to get Ecuador hammering Germany tomorrow on DVD for ya!
I'm enjoying my Biochemistry class this summer, although it's pretty fast-paced. It's been super busy lately, especially since Tina and I just moved into our new apartment. You'll love it; it's cute, but bigger than our old crib. Tina and I think and talk of you often, and we're very happy that you're experiencing so much on your trip.
Be good and may the LORD be with you. And thanks for the gift! (Whatever it is...)
Hey there! I'll be leaving from the United States to Ecuador in mid-June and be staying there until mid-August. While I'm in Ecuador I'll be spending my time teaching English at a private school there and also touring the country in my spare time.... full info
