So great to touch in with you! Dear Shannon, I feel your big heart as you tell of your journey. We spoke your name on retreat last weekend in McCall. You are in my prayers. All my love, m
My dear, dear Shannon, do you mean you are most human also? I love the new spin on the prayer, as it is so true, true, true. I have no reason to wallow in my pity, yet I do. I can't wait to see you and Steve when you return. Thank God for you, your vision, and your truth. Love you.

Sometimes it's the most unexpected, small things that are the best, yeh? Had a wonderful retreat with Sangha members in McCall last weekend. Missed you guys.
Worth the read again! I've commented on this blog already but It was worth the reading again, it sure puts things in perspective around us here!!! We complain about this that or the other when really we have it pretty darn good here in the US and should be thankful. But knowing us as I do, we'll all still find something to complain about. We should all have to take a turn and volunteer in a 3rd world country, give us a dose of reality, maybe! Then again who knows maybe not. Maybe complaining is just part of our nature! Sad. IMMS love you way lots and miss you even more.
Hi Shannon, it has been awhile since visiting with you and I was particulary excited to have the oppurtunity to read of some of the work you are doing there. Those of us that have never left the country and seen a life style that is beyond our imagination at best, truly and respectfully say "God Bless" for the work you are doing. You are more of an inspiration to me and I am sure to all you are serving than you are allowing yourself to see. You are a kind, intuned and talented woman and I pray for your strength, courage and happiness. I would love to read more anytime you write and will continue to check your blog. Take care Shannon and thank you for the mission you have chosen. Jacqui
Greetings Hi, Shannon and Steve, It is very interesting reading about your experiences. My sister, Ming, is doing HIV/AIDS work in Tanzania and I will be going to visit her in November. Bob is hoping to do a trip to Bolivia with the church in September! The preschool sounds like a great opportunity for you to use your story telling and musical talents.
Love,
Rita
Hello Kopongers I enjoyed reading your stories as always. Thanks for adding the pix, really enjoy getting to see you both and the folks you're working with (& Jr's cheeks are awesome!). Sounds like your experiences are perfect training ground for working with teens. Maybe I should send you Logan once you return? LOL :-)
Take care,
I can't believe its been a year! Steve and Shannon, Is it just me, or does time seem to speed up and slow down depneding on what's going on in our lives? It is so good to get these updates from you and know about your daily thoughts and concerns. Keep writing, its so important - We can compare our book notes when we get together! (I mean, the books we are going to write). Lets connect soon, lots of good things going on here, lots to catch up on. Much love to both of you, Rich, Wendy, Andy and Matt
PS Linda S often asks about you and loves reading the blog
Well Spoken! Very well spoken, Shannon. Gives us a dose of reality w/a pinch of humor! I love your style. I understand you probably don't feel like you're making much of a difference but I beg to differ!!! I think you and Steve are making more of a lasting difference than you will ever know and I hope someday you will feel pleased and satisfied about that. AS much as we /I miss you here I know those kids need you're stability, knowledge, and kindness there for the short time they will have you but I will still be so glad when ya'll are home, not that I'm selfish or anything! Thank you for bringing us into your everyday work life and reality of that work that sometimes is very frustrating for you. But you are handleing it w/a good sense of humor most of the time anyway. I'm sure you have your moments as we all do. I love you my dear sis and so proud you are walking your talk!!! IMMS hugs and kisses to you both.
Thank you Hi Mom, thanks for the update! I enjoy reading about your life in Bots. We miss you everyday. We often think "Hey! This time next year we will be planning your welcome home party!"
Boy oh boy somebody ought to strangle Murphy for writing his laws of probability. !!! If it can go wrong, It Will!!! At least you all made it back safe if not completely sound. (Sandy camera, hot feet etc. ) Glad you got to see the ocean tho!!! : )
I like the story! Shannon I liked the story. It sounds like some of our trips to Japan. We love you and Steve. Sorry I have not made contact. My computer was not able to read your e-mails or respond. I appreciate all you are doing. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hummmmm Africa? My sweet sister here again you've taken me along the Mozambic trip w/you anyway( cuz I was going to come early but we talked and decided it would be better to come in July for the Safari), just like the trips you'ld take us all on when you where in South America through your story telling! Whew, that was a long sentence!!! You have such a gift w/, well in Okie talk I'ld say, Gab but that just sounds plain, well, PLAIN!! You're able to tell of your adventures so that we are able to feel like we're right there w/you!! It's awesome, thank you for my many adventures that I'ld never experienced if not for your inspiring exciting expressive words. I never had to leave my house and it didn't cost me a dime!!! lol I sure hope to be up there in July then again I hear this story and think Hummm maybe I'll wait and we'll go somewhere else when she gets home!! lol I love and miss you way lots.
Amazing! You and Steve have the most amazing trips and adventures. I am sure for the both of you, "amazing" is not the right adjective at the time. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. Blessings.
I enjoyed your Africa post. I have always wanted to travel there. My blog is looking for travel photos and travel stories. If you have the time, email us some at dirtyhippiesblog@gmail.com or check us out at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com
Continued fun on your travels,

Aw! That sounds just awful! I'm sorry! We miss you a bunch. We were hoping it was a lovely beach vacation but I guess not. We can hit the Oregon Coast together when you get home, which, frankly, isn't soon enough for any of us!
Wowzers! WOW - sounds like an A-Frican adventure for sure! :) Glad to know that everyone is safe though & like you said you will find it a funny story to tell in the distant future right? The ocean pictures are beautiful though so at least that was good! Our thoughts are with your host family in dealing with their loss. Love and miss you and hope to catch you next time on Skype.
Amazing Adventure!! Oh what sheltered lives we lead back here in Idaho. I am so happy you are laughing through all of this. Happy Birthday, Steve! Love, Mtae
Gotta love it! What can I say.. it's amazing what we can endure for a day of Fun! I can relate to the bus ride & over stuffed taxis. We encountered the same thing when we were in Turkey. I wouldn't trade the memories for anything!! It was like camping out for 2 years.
Wow Thank you sis for an unbelievable, beautiful, once n a lifetime journey!! You always write in a way that makes you feel like we're right there with you and Steve. When you come home, you should write a book for the new peace corp members to help them in their new adventure, to see it like you do w/awe and wonder or just write a book about all your adventures that would grab anuyones attention!!lol You've always been able to hold my attention every since we've met and that's saying alot! Never a dull moment. And pictures to boot!!! I love you (stealing a quote from you) "to the moon and back" now me way way lots, yer sis, Jayne
My husband and I have now completed our Peace Corps service in Botswana, and are living in Boise, Idaho. I'm still learning that no matter where I travel, there I am with my perceptions in tow, but with each experience, I'm learning to let go and the burden becomes lighter.... full info
