Visiting Namibia would be an adventure I have this dream about one day visiting Namibia and go an a really long adventure trip. I have seen so many wonderful photos from odd, fascinating but often very remote places in Namibia and I want to see them all. I expect that I would need to go on 4WD tours to be able to see may of them, but it would be totally worth it. /Ake
Trip down memory lane We went to Ethiopia in 2005. I enjoyed reading your blog because a lot of nice memories came back reading it. We absolutely loved Lalibela and Gondar. But the most spectacular place we visited was Omo Valley. If you wish to read about our trip we last year digitized the old photos we took then and we wrote a blog entry. /Ake
Ethiopia Sounds like an exciting plane ride to the Omo! :)
I loved Ethiopia. Can't wait to get out and explore again - hopefully 2021. Take care you two and thanks for your comment.
7 days - is that enough Interesting to hear about such a little visited place. You stayed there 7 days if I understodd you right. Is that enough or would you have liked to stay longer? And thay bird really is super-cute! /Ake
7 days in the Faroes I definitely would have enjoyed a longer stay, but felt that I saw quite a bit and experienced the Faroes in 7 days. There were other hikes and islands I would like to have explored, as well as a boat ride to see the bird cliffs if we had more time. We were lucky that the weather was good so that we could get out every day, but not everyone is so lucky.
Wonderful view Great view there and good work to catch it so well in the photo. We love to travel on small roads to places not visited by too many tourists. We also love France so hopefully we'll be able to tour the French countryside one day. Thanks for your blog. /Ake
Thanks for your blog entry Thank you for writing about Rwanda. I couldn't agree with you more when you say that Rwanda is a much better travel destination than people in general might think. We loved it when we were there. It was clean, safe and relatively easy to get around. Good roads, the food was good and the accomodation was above expectation as well. /Ake
Cappadocia - haven't been there in a long time I visited Cappadocia about 20 years ago and I absolutely loved it. I was very fascinated by the underground cities. One day I will hopefully go back there again. /Ake
We loved Rwanda We really loved Rwanda. There is plenty more to see there than the gorillas.
Advice #1: Book the gorilla trip well in advance.
Advice #2: Bring a camera you are comfortable with. For the gorilla tour make sure you are able to take photos even if it is raining. (I.e. either have a waterproof back-up camera or protect your non-waterproof well)
Advice #3: When you visit the gorillas, bring protective clothes. Some plants sting. Even thin gloves is a good idea.
Advice #4: Akagera NP (Safari) was awesome.
I hope you read all our blogs from Rwanda. You might pick up one or two places there that might be worth visiting. Don't hesitate to ask for more advice on Rwanda. I am happy to answer any question you have. /Ake
Many thanks! I really appreciate you taking the time to outline all the important bullets about touring Rwanda. I wasn't thinking of touring Akagera, so will have to reconsider. I'm off to review your blogs! Cheers!
Florence and Naples are both high on the agenda Thank you for writing this blog. We have been thinking about going to both Naples and Florence but just haven't come around to make it happen yet.
This photo is fabulous. Really great shot! /Ake
I'm honored to receive your compliment! You two are probably my favorite blog to browse on travelblog. So to receive your nice comment really made my day! Thank you! I hope to next travel to Rwanda to see the gorillas. I noticed that you have already been there. Any advice for what kind of camera equipment to carry?
Best regards and keep on exploring and writing! Sheri
Your blogs and photos are So Wonderful! Thanks very much for taking the time to write your blogs and share photos! We've explored French Polynesia many times since our honeymoon in 1980 and will be exploring Fakarava in January 2014 while on a cruise....not the same vibe as a land stay but better than nothing! We've spent time on land stays in Manihi, Tikehau, and Rangiroa and are excited to go to Fakarava. Have you been to the Marquesas? Try to add it to your visit to the the Societies....very sauvage. AND we really enjoyed your China blog and photos.....wow!! That hike was incredible!!! HAPPY Trails and many thanks for sharing your experiences. Best, Brooke
Thanks, you made my day! I truly appreciate your comments and even have learned a new word - "sauvage". I like it! If this is how the Marquesas are, then this is one I will add to my list to visit. You are going to LOVE Fakrava. Don't miss the screaming, streaming, flying snorkel over the reef at the South Pass. Wow, there's so much to see in this world! Enjoy it all!
Your Journey and Reportage Sheri
I have never emailed a blogger so I hope this somehow gets to you. These are fabulous pictures and the commentary is priceless. To me you picked up the essence of travel and exploring different cultures. I would love to hear more about your experiences but in the mean time I will happily journey through your blog absorbing the stories and pictures.
Wow, thanks! I'll be adding one soon from our last trip to a remote atoll called Fakarava. Glad to know someone enjoys my blogs. I sure enjoy writing ( and living!) them.
Thanks for the post and pictures! This is an excellent article on Pohnpei, especially the pictures! I lived on Pohnpei for two years and it is great to read about a tourist's impressions of the island. I think you captured the vibe and spirit of Pohnpei very well. The pictures are amazing as well. They bring back a lot of memories! Thanks
Lucky you! I'm sure you must miss Pohnpei. Thanks for your nice comments. I loved it and am so glad to have captured it in a way that residents see as accurate. Hope we can both be lucky enough to return some day!
Thank you, Sheri! Thank you for the permission. I've been here for 12 years and your blog was refreshing. I'm sure Mr. Gootnick of the GAO will get a kick out of your husband's theory as well!
Aha, so you know whom he was referring to! If possible, can you provide a link or copy of whatever is published in your paper. It would be such an honor to know it was read and hopefully enjoyed by your readers. Thanks!
In 2006, our family began what we thought was a 3 year adventure of living and traveling in China. But like Gilligan, our 3 year tour turned into something much longer and deeper than we expected. This was just the beginning of our cultural travels and blogs. 3 years turned into 6 years and included a time of residence in South Korea as well. The kids have all transitioned into and out of college leaving us as empty nesters, but not empty of ambitions to continue to explore the world. Come along with us as we seek to expand our understanding of this marvelous world in which we live!
