thanks While I'd seen this review before, it was great on this site to see all of the student pictures, most of whom I had in my classes the past year. Amazing how much younger they looked only one year ago, especially the SBS 1 kids. Even Kevin, or 'Lord Voldemort' as he was known by the American teachers haha. They were good kids. Only came back home a few weeks ago and feeling nostalgia. Anyway, thanks ShadyAdy
:/ I always though of the West Country as being one of the nicer, more refined parts of the UK, yet it seems that the pernicious spread of the Chav underclass with their lack of morality and standards is slowly working its way into every facet of British society. Well done for standing up for your missus and making the dickheads feel like dickheads. All I can say is that I'm just glad I got out when I did!
I would say it's far more refined than other parts of the UK that we went through on our charity walk, but there's always the minority. It amazes me where this minority hides out sometimes!
seo I was very encouraged to find this site. I wanted to thank you for this special read. I definitely savored every little bit of it and I have bookmarked you to check out new stuff you post.

Seo............. .............although I'd be very happy if you really did savour every little bit, are you sure this wasn't just a plug for your website? Very cheeky :)
I hate stag parties. So much. English stag parties seem to be in a different league altogether, though. And I can't comprehend for the life of me how some women put up with being treated like the one at your camping site. Truly shocking. Cheers,
Jens
Stag Parties......... ........in most cases I completely agree. I remember seeing one stag party in Latvia and one of the members was urinating up Riga's Freedom Monument. I don't understand how similar stag groups seem to lose all morals and respect. Saying that though, the stag parties I have been on, including my own have in no way resembled the stereotypical British stag party. Of course there was alcohol involved, but the stag parties resembled more of a reunion of old friends.....and there were no matching T-shirts!
As for the lady and the abusive husband..........I don't know why women would put up with such behaviour........but strangely it's men like these that seem to have a line of women waiting for their services!
I feel tired just thinking about walking all that way! I've heard that downing a pint of any good quality spirit is also good for dulling the pain of dodgy trotters :) Good luck with your fund raiser! It looks like the weather is better there than it is in here in Indonesia ;)
I think we will practice on the pints of ale before moving onto pints of spirit! When we think of the total distance, it seems slightly insane and ridiculous. But just thinking about each day makes it a lot easier......especially when each day's walk is broken up by tourist attractions, pubs and local culinary treats!
Sadly I do.........I really wish my camera and ability was good enough to get this kind of photo first time around. I just use Picasa to touch some photos up from time to time. For this one, I just changed it to sepia and then increase the shadows and light.

Sorry for being slack........... ......unfortunately the real world has gotten in the way of travel and blogging.........hopefully a move back to London and new job and apartment will be secured in the next week or two.......and then normal service will be resumed!
Really good writing here. Thanks for all the info and the warnings. It\'s very unfortunate you got duped several times though, yet you sounded really calm and don\'t seem to be bitter about it.
I think part of travelling is to get duped, conned and taken advantage of......only then will you learn from your errors and have one or two amusing stories to tell!
Very impressive! That's a pretty ambitious undertaking to walk the whole LEJOG. I think it wouldn't be for me, seeing that you carry a 14kg-backpack. But the daily pint thing sounds good! Keen to read more about this epic walk.
Cheers,
Jens
Ambitious............... .................or stupid! I think it was the the promise of local ale and the ability to eat large quantities of food and not gain weight that was the main attraction. Certainly not sure if I'd attempt such an endeavour again though.
Having spent several years travelling around the world, living in far reaching destinations and sampling differing cultures and lifestyles, I am now planning my next major travel adventure.
Starting on June 25th 2011 my wife and I will walk from Land's End at the south-western tip of England to John O'Groats, located at the north-eastern tip of Scotland. This is a 1200 mile walk and will take approximately three months to complete. This walk will be for charity and we will be raising money for the charity Association for International Cancer Research (AICR) (ht... full info
