After two amazing weeks in Belize and one shocking tummy bug later, Lee and I made our way back into Mexico. We had already visited Cancun, Cozumel, Tulum, Coba and Chetumal and we were eager to explore more of inland Mexico. We made our way up to Merida, which unbeknown to us was in the midst of Carnival fever. Carnival is massive in Mexico, with week long celebrations which focus around a daily parade. The city, which was supposed to be a Colonial gem, was abuzz with police everywhere, buses bumper to bumper in narrow streets and many roads closed off in preparation for each nights parade.
