So after arriving in Bangkok and getting slightly settled in the hotel I had to venture out onto the imfamous Khao San Road. For those of you that were fortunate to NOT see The Beach with Leonardo Di Caprio (though the book was pretty good), Khao San Road is backpacker central. Basically it is a street of bars, "massage parlors". fast food joints, t-shirt shops, internet cafes, and $10 per night flophouses. Upon heading out onto the street, the first thing that struck me was "Where are all the Thai people?" Seriously...the street was packed with more tourists than locals. The street food on Khao San is really good though, I managed to get a big bowl od Pad Thai for 25 bhat...about 70 cents. And it was good too! Saving Money Tip in Thailand #2:
