ogenki desu ka? Hi Ro!
So glad you're blogging some more! Japan sounds amazing, both in your
submergence in Japanese life and language and in the general state of
merriment and fun! Can't wait to hear about the festival and the shinkansen. Hope you got our birthday greetings -- also that you know we love and miss you! XOXO, Laurie, Eugene and Clara
Going to Japan in December I'm blogging about it too at http://www.travelwithcj.com - reading all about your trip now. Getting all excited about the big trip!
Why "awesome" was coined Dear Rowan,
Thank you for your blog, for sharing some of this life-changing experience w/
us, and particularly for the inspiring account and pictures of your Fuji trek!
You met the mountain, dude! We miss you so much, but we are learning about
you and about your new home from your words and photos. Lots of love,
Laurie, Euge and Clara
What an amazing experience, Rowan. Not just a physical ordeal, but a challenge of will and spirit. You may have gotten your ass kicked, but you still came out on top. Would love to hear of more of your adventures over Christmas. Jim
Congratulatons Your report is so descriptive we could feel the cold and your sore muscles. What a great experience. Are you planning to do it again soon? Love your blogs. Thanks, Cliff and Beverly
Hey Gina Thanks for reading! I'm having a blast and I've actually been talking to Alex a lot, which has been nice and helpful. And I know you're Alex's mom, I don't know many other Gina Hornbecks! :D
Yeahhh... I was surprised to be sure, with every thing I'd heard about Tokyo people not batting an eye at gaijin. That being said, I was at an unlikely event for a gaijin to be going to: I doubt they see many tall whiteys rocking out to Visual Kei.
Can I ask who this is? Thanks for the comment!
Rowan
loving the news Hi Ro - great to keep us (more or less) with your adventures...Dave told me Mt Fuji was amazing - what a brilliant thing to do.
London life rushes by too - plenty of fun and stuff to do -
lots of love
Hxx
The most stand-out thing Rowan, you cracked me up with your comment about "How am I still the most stand out thing in this sea of ridiculously dressed up people?" I was a college student in Japan like you, many decades ago, and it seems that many things have really changed and some things are still very much the same. I would have thought Japanese people--especially in Tokyo--would be much more used to seeing gaijin by now, but I guess not, huh?
Have fun!
Wonderful!! What a wonderful start to this whole adventure! You look so happy and so much great stuff is happening, connections with people you like, threads from your earlier self like the visual kei, new things (go to Japan, pick up tennis!): I am just glowing reading about it and thanks for so many photos too, your mom and I went through all of them together just now. Tons of love, Dad
Loving the travel blog! Hey Rowan! You look great! Love the blog. And the entry title...lol What an amazing experience you are having! Lots of love, and best wishes. Sounds like you'll be fluid in Japanese in no time!
Love
Gina
