Thanks for finishing the blog guys- I really enjoyed reading about your trip and seeing all the fantastic places you visited. Glad you had such a great time!
Welcome back guys ! Hey Alissa and Brian ~
Just loved readin' this last entry all about Ireland ... I can't believe you found nothing in the Irish birth records of Grampa and Gramma Rooney ??? Huh, very frustrating and strange all at the same time.
Anyway, welcome back and we are really looking forward to seeing you guys this Sunday!
Love, Tania and Kevin and da boyzzzzzzz
Disney-Like City Your comments about how "fake" the city looked reminded me of "Old Town" Warsaw. Unfortunately during WWII, the old part of Warsaw was destroyed. However, as a gesture the communists completely rebuilt it afterwards based on old pictures and blueprints. So, the "Old City" is really only 50 years old!
What atrip I have enjoyed every minute of this incredible and exciting journey its been a blasat following you guys now enjoy Ireland and have a wee pint and a song safe home

Alcohol and the former Czechoslovakia Hi guys-You're bringing back memories!! Jordan and I spent 2 days completely dehydrated while in Bratislava last summer. My uncle hosted us and served red wine for breakfast, cognac for lunch, Slovak wine (many good bottles) with conversation, and when evening rolled around and even Jordan's liver was begging for water my Uncle replied "Water is for washing" and ordered us beers. We spent the trip back to Germany with water bottles attached to our lips. But it really was good wine........
I just happened to be in the neighborhood... Hi guys! Really wonderful blog. Kristina and I are going to be in Berlin on the 1st. Dunno if you'll be there, too. Wouldn't that be...wierd? Wanna hang?
... Hard to believe that happened in the 20th century; harder to believe it could be happening in the 21st too. I visited Dachau last year and I felt many of the same things that you guys did.
Auschwitz Hi Guys,
I've visiting Auschwitz/Birkenau many times .. My Grandfather ( My Mom's father who is now 91 ) and a survivor of Auschwitz was able to give us a guided tours through Auschwitz during several visit. It was amazing and heartbreaking for me to hear his stories and walk Auschwitz with a man that spent 3 years there and even 50 years later remembered it like it was just yesterday......
Miss you guys !
Tania

Oswiecim Your grasping of what happened in Auschwitz is amazing. To put a little personal prospective on this place, my dad, 91, living in Webster Mass. is a survivor of Oswiecim. My great grandmother was gassed and cremated in Oswiecim. My hometown of Bielsko-Biala was only 30 miles from the camp and my mom used to tell me that at night they sometimes smelled the ashes of the crematoriums.......I am glad that you saw this part of inhumanity.......please enjoy the rest of what Poland has to offer......
Wow! Just checking this for the first time in a bit...can't believe all the adventures you are having! Roons, i hope you have some extra stuff from India that you need to get rid of :) Miss you guys!
Still loving your commentary. Also thought I would add a note regarding the concentration camp...I actually visited the Dachau concentration camp in Germany when I was 15 years old on a class trip to Europe. Your images quickly took me back to that eery experience. On that visit, I met a man who actually was liberated from Dachau by American soldiers . He was originally from Krakow, but decided to remain in the town where Dachau was located in order to return to the camp every day to re-tell his story to at least one more person, as he never wanted the story to extinguish. He was quite old when I met him and he had never missed a day. I'm glad you guys had an amazing experience there--I know visiting Dachau was something that has been seared onto my memory forever.
Huh... Newkirk, I was totally unaware you were such the paprika connoisseur. I prefer Oregano, but to each his own.
(On a side note, TMG reports Makaha has a suspended liquor license. Damn those poo-poo-platter-on-fire-condoning bastards.)
Cheers,
matt
POLAND Hey Guys ~
We love hearing from you -- Love your pictures too ! As my Mom said, you are gonna love Krakow .. I've been there many many times and have watched that city bloom. Definitely email our friend, Marcin Woyna! He's a great great guy and just tell him that Janina and Tania sent you !
Love to you guys !
Tania, Kevin and all da boyz !
in Poland.... Just remember to say Dzienkuja (thank you) and Nazdrovia (Cheers) and enjoy ...this trip sounds fantastic and David and I are truly enjoying your blogs! Bardzdrovia (great) (Polish words are spelled as you would pronounce them)
The incredible journey continues! It's hard to imagine the huge diversity of experiences you two are having- your blogs help, but I can't wait to hear about it in person! You'd better not be all talked out by the time Dad and I get back from Tanzania!!! The wide open spaces of Bucharest must have been a real contrast to the crowded narrow passageways in the cities of India and Thailand!
Dad and I had the same reaction you did to the blending of ancient structures into present day life in Turkey (but you said it more eloquently!)- it's hard to get that sense of history growing up here! Have a pierogi or two for me (you can keep the ponies) and travel safely!
Happy travels!
you will be surprised Hi you guys....you are off to my country Poland and you will be surprised that it is not about pierogi's and ponies. Krakow is an absolute must and just too bad that I didn't know about you visiting Krakow, because I have some very nice, smart and English speaking friends in Krakow, who could show you around.....if you need help, e-mail this friend: orlewicz1@wp.pl His name is Marcin and he is my God son and he speaks fantastic English. Good luck and can't wait for the report.
Janina (Tania's mom)
Hi! Now that I'm back from Germany I got to read through your Travelblog and it's great :) Germany pales in comparison to the amazing experiences you've been having on your travels, but it was still a lot of fun (even though I did only get to see the US play three times, and not very well at that!). Keep blogging away, it's great to hear about your adventures!
