Nice Pictures! Becca, That was great to get another blog from you. Glad you have the wireless card now. That little Mountain Plover looks pretty cute, but how do you ever find those nests? I could not find the Plover in the one picture. Hope the job is going much more smoothly and that your next three weeks will go quickly. Love, Grandma
Re: Thanks for the new Blog Becca, We were waiting for your blog. The pictures were fun. Even the "fake" bird watching. We will definitely stay tuned for your blogs as you travel on. Blessings to you. Love, Grandma and Grandpa
Congratulations Wow! Becky, we are so proud of you. What an interesting life you are living. Mom and Dad told us more great news about Cornell! I have been loving your pictures and look forward to seeing more!
Love, Aunt Karla
Tomate Congratulations on Colorado, Becca!
Any chance of lobbying for a larger cage for Tomate? Ze looks a bit cramped in there.*
And I'm glad to hear that you're attracting potentailly dangerous animals to your living area with delcious baked goods.
Espero que vas a encontrar muchas aves bonitas y interesantes mientras vives en el bosque . . . creo esos van a ser meses importantes en su vida. (Don't make fun! I haven't had a class in five years!)
Keep sending pictures!

** Kidding, of course.
Great Pictures! Wow! I love the very first picture of the cloud forest. Is that a view from the station? Where will you publish those papers? Ecuador or the USA? Keep the story and pictures coming.
MOM
miss you I'm catching up on entries in the new year - how did your 'illness' come out? Sounds like all is well and is better than you hoped or expected. Send more pictures when you can; they really bring it home.
Love you, Aunt C.
Tell me more! Have you been to the preserve that borders Yanayacu? Are the any other ornithologists there? What's the story on the colorful columns in the dining area? What ARE you looking for in the tapes? When you write your paper will you publish it? If so, where? Seen any night jars yet?
Keep it coming! MOM
Re: Great Blog Becca, We really enjoyed your latest blog. The area looks so beautiful. We're surprised that the weather is that cool. Glad you packed some warm clothes. Hope your tapes of the Golden-Headed Quetzal are helpful. Love, Grandma and Grandpa
Food in the Cloud Forest What is your typical meal at Yanayacu? Is the coffee good? Can you get a picture of the microhydroelectric plant? What are you looking for in the tapes of the nest?
Birding in our backyard has yielded lots of wild turkeys and juncos.
Greetings Becca - I just re-read your journals. I love seeing all the pictures and hearing of your adventures! Take care! I look forward to seeing you when you get back home!
Love, Karla

Great Pics! Wonderful pictures, Rebecca! After seeing how they made that candy, I'm not sure that's the best thing to eat for a person with "an illness". Perhaps there's a reason it came back with a vengance?
Keep us posted. I can't wait to hear about Harold and the rain forest.
MOM
colour me green Can there be two?? The more I read about these great adventures the greener I get. Maybe these little nudges will amount to a great big shove! I know I'll love it when I take the first step . Thx for the trip.
Great Pictures Great Pictures Becca! I like the pics of the wildlife, but I also really like the pictures from your window or balcony, and the pics with the people you've met. The pictures remind me of "The Mortorcycle Diaries". You need to pick up some native garb, and you'll fit right in.

Butterfly Farming Question When I was in Puerto Rico I saw a shop with artwork that was ~50 Monarch butterflies in formation. It was extremely cool. The literature said that they didn't kill the butterflies, but that they were raised on a butterfly farm and had died naturally. So is that the case?
Keep up the blog this is great fun.
Feliz Navidad to you, too Becky - What a great adventure! I love hearing about the differences in the foods, the way they are served, and the emphasis on veggies.
Grandma and Grandpa L had Christmas dinner with us. We miss you and your family! Take care! Aunt Karla
Merry Christmas Merry Christmas Becca! We're here at G'ma Downey's house and really miss you. The crowd has started to arrive so chaos should reign soon. So glad to hear you hooked up with another English speaking gringo. Now you'll have someone to share stories with. Feliz Navidad! Enjoy the day. Love, Mom and Dad
Merry Christmas FN Merry Christmas Becky. I'm listening to Raffi's Christmas CD and thinking of singing those songs in the car with you kids in Christmas past. Love You. Uncle Rick
WOW What a great adventure you are having. I wish I was there with you. I would love the food, the sights, the smells, not to mention getting away from the darn cold weather and snow. Love, Uncle Rick
Tell me more! Becca, Tell us more about the SA Explorer's Club. Is it a "clubhouse" like you might expect in NYC? Are there lodgings there? Remember to relax and enjoy yourself. Look on everything as an adventure.
I am interested in avian behavioral ecology, and I will be living at a field station in Ecuador for the next three months studying just that. I am a recent Yale graduate, and I have been working as a seasonal field technician for the last six months.... full info
