cómo se dice Cucumber en español?
I'll have to ask you questions like that, because I'll be taking spanish along with Chinese :o
and I really want to be able to say Cucumber in spanish to impress my teacher "por favor cucumber?"
Weaving?! I wanna learn how do weave! Man, that sounds like pretty good visit, because you get to do good things :D I wish I could go to China to study Chinese . .. I'm starting spanish this year ._. so I'll have to ask you random questions.
like cómo se dice Cucumber en español?
no. . . seriously, cómo se dice Cucumber en español??!?!
I'm not your loose change... No one ever understands you, Kelsey. Except me mostly. And, by making that statement, no one understands me either... except you mostly. Plz bring me a Guatemalan child! Keep having fun and staying safe... and don't get a 24-hour stomach bug, because it's not fun to pass out twice, throw six times, go to two doctors, and sleep for sixteen hours all in the same day. Though it DOES make for a pretty good story. Ok well. I'm off to read the 47 pieces of email that I recieved since yesterday. It's amazing what just one day without internet can do to you. Love you muchly.
Te Odio Un dia ire a guatemala... ARGGG I HOPE YOU GUYS ARE HAVING FUN TELL MARIAH I LOVE HER AND WILL HAVE HER GRINGO BABIES SOME DAY... eh.. right...
Chhhh. So yesterday this thing was being stupid and wouldn't take me to the handy comment-adding page... So now I can't remember what I was going to say. Like at all. Don't you hate it when that happens? So I guess I'll just say that I love and miss you and that I want your life, even if it includes really creepy little Guatemalan children. [Was it like that kid from The Grudge? Remember when we all watched that movie together? And none of us understood the plotline because there wasn't one?]
Cuarto de Julio and Compras Happy Fourth of July! I do not recommend setting off pyrotechnics in Guatemala. No jail for you.
About shopping and Mom's souvenirs......how are you going to manage getting the duck and the little boy with blue boots back home? Your bag is only so big, you know.
Missing you,
Dad
Well now. Alright, my favorite gringo... [gringa, actually, I suppose] I am ever so glad that you are doing charitable works. Doesn't your heart just want to burst with the joy of interacting? Mine generally does after I've spent a couple of hours scooping dog poop at the SPCA. I can't even imagine how yours must be feeling at the moment. But wait, there's more. Liana's next charitable act: Puppy-sitting for the Lopezes. Yeah, that little puppy of theirs is gonna come live with me. [Oh dear god, if anything happens to it Teresa is going to MURDER me...] I have to say that I am rather excited.
Have you seen Kelsey? She's gone. Her room is quiet and I have a hard time sleeping in there without her. I tried to share a room with Lauren and Abbey, but it's not the same (and Abbey snores!) I go downstairs in the middle of the night to bark at the dark through the sliding glass door. Someone might hear me and answer my questions: "Have you seen Kelsey? Tall, thin, and beautiful, she loves all things Spanish. She lets me sleep on the bed even though I'm not supposed to. She always shares her food. She's been missing for two weeks now. Please send word." I try to keep busy in the meantime. I steal the devil cat's food, and lick lots of unsuspecting people and I finally chewed the eyes off my "pig, but I'm running out of things to do, so if you see Kelsey tell her to come home soon.
sounds like fun Hey Trincar...oops...I mean Kelsey, I am sorry that everyone is getting sick. I hope they have pepto bismal or some other drug to make you feel better. Anyway, it is fun reading about your adventures. You certainly have a future in writing travel logs. It has been raining here for several days in a row and everything is wet or under water. Yuck. Anyway, I am looking forward to more stories and pictures when you guys come home.
Hang in there...we are thinking about you!!
Brooke and fam.
Pizzaz Interested acquaintance:
"So..like what kind of cool food did you guys have...?"
Kelsey:
Umm...we had cheeseburgers and pizza!
I think we need to retool your stories, add a little pizza-z...maybe make up a spanish word for cheeseburgers and pizza.
By the way, trincar can mean alot of things according to the Dali Google, including "to drink excessively (to put it away)" and "the act of kissing". Hmmmm... now you're in trouble.
By the way, it's catching! Both your mom and Lauren are sick with the throw-ups. I think they're trying to hard to share your experiences.
Love,
Dad
trincar... Here's what I could find:
trin·car
tr.
1. (romper) to break up, smash
2. (sujetar) to hold down
3. figurative, slang (matar) to bump off, rub out
4. (comer) to put away (eat)
5. colloquial (beber) to put away (drink)
6. (robar) to lift, swipe
7. maritime, nautical to lash, tie
My guess is: #3--to bump off, but what do I know? I'm sorry to hear you were all sick. Lauren and I were sick as well (perhaps it's just our psychic connection!) I miss you lots.
Yo no se nada. Well, neither freetranslation.com nor urbandictionary.com had anything to say. So it must be really obscure Spanish slang. Because the latter /does/ have some Spanish slang terms [AKA the more widely-used ones... IE 'chingar']. How do I know? Because I know everything! But, I have to say that 'trincar' is definitely a verb [but you already knew that] unless it's /so/ slangish that even though it ends in 'ar', it is not the infinitive form of a verb. Glad I could help... ha, no I'm kidding. This comment has absolutely nothing constructive about it whatsoever. So let me leave some words of wisdom to remember... Mari's puppy has extremely sharp teeth. [If you try to find out whether or not this is true firsthand, you will not be happy.]
Is it ... bad that I threw my sins in a fire, and it went out? Poof?
Mom and I have signed you up for this really cool Ping Pong camp in China. You leave the day after you get back. That okay?
Big missing you,
Dad
You know it. Dear Kelsey: I want your life. I'm so jealous. To make YOU jealous of my totally amazing life [pshhhhh], tonight I babysat for the sweetest children I do believe I have ever encountered. They are brother and sister and they are twins and they are 9. The girl's name [spelled phonetically...] is Lakshmi, and the boy is named Mohan. And they are basically the easiest kids in the history of forever to babysit. We thoroughly dissected plums and kiwis, and we threw [magnetic] darts at the wall for approximately half an hour... And watched a movie. [Eloise at Christmastime.] And then the forcing of teeth-brushing and pajama-donning took up the rest of the time. And it was totally the easiest ten dollars I've ever made in my life. And, if THAT doesn't have you as jealous of my life as I am of yours... I'm spending the day con Mari tomorrow. Yeah so aren't you jealous? [Well, I know you aren't. But you can pretend like you are if you want to humor me. Because I love you. And you love meeeeeee. <3]
Apostrophes are our friends * I love peach tea.
* "Por favor" is nice anywhere in a sentence. : )
* I have hidden dancing capabilities (ask Squids and Not Nate) (...the "toe dance," for ex.)
* I love frogger (...and I'm not bad at it) (...and one of my fave episodes of Seinfeld is the frogger episode)
* Crickets are a good source of protein.
* Aloysius, my child, are you okay?
* Hmmm...daddio (su padre) got a little...risque (add accent over "e")
* Speaking of padre...and madre: I bumped into them at Lowes-- they'd just returned w/Lauren from their weekend trip to Disney World-- they said they had a BLAST!
* Don't diss hobos.
* If you find any interesting trash...bring it home We can always use more trash in the D.I. room.
Adios mi amiga (Cydney tells me this is correct)
If I'd have known there was chocolate... Hola Mija, I knew I should have gone to Guatemala with you--I love chocolate! I'm so glad you're having a good time and that you're still healthy (knock on wood!) Dad and I have decided to send you off to another foreign country when you come home because your blogs are so entertaining. I hope you find lots of cool stuff to buy this weekend. Be safe and take care of yourself. I miss you more than you know.
Bam, Missesfaceeee. Hey, about the whole rain thing? Yeah it's totally doing that here too. On a totally DIFFERENT subject, I'm so sorry for missing your instant message earlier this evening!!! I wanted to talk to you sooo bad. =[ But it's a rather crazy time at my house right now because... [drumroll?] my mom has more medical problems. Yay. And these are like the worst ever, yet. She has some stuff wrong and MIGHT have cancer [but, knowing her, she doesn't and her stuff is wrong just because... she's a freak 'o nature, teehee] and... yeah. So, on Wednesday they are doing tests [colonoscopy] to find out what exactly is wrong and then sometime next week [date TBA, I'll tell you when we know] they are doing surgery. 6 hour surgery, 5 days in the hospital, 2 weeks at home no driving... yep. I don't know why I'm telling you all of this, except to say that I am pretty darn sure that YOU don't pray, but I am also pretty darn sure that like 99.99% of all South/Central American people do... so you should ask your host family to pray for your best friend's sick mother, because it would make said sick mother feel better. Because said sick mother does pray and she believes that praying works and stuff. So. Plz do that for me because you love me. And I love you. And I miss you so damn much! Anddddd I hope you're having lots and lots and lots of fun. And this comment is REALLY long so I guess I should stop now, shouldn't I? Email me or something. Or mention me in your next blog! That's be way way exciting. Okay, well, I'm really going to stop now. Really. Really. Okay. <3 Liana
Glad to hear your enjoying yourself. Kelsey,
I am sure, with your incredible personality and go get'em attitude, you are having a ball. It is great to learn more about your adventures. Keep up the blogs.....Lainie says hi!
Kelsey!
I'm sorry you're wet and sunburned and fatigued. I'm sorry that you're having wet dreams (did I really say that?). We are really getting soaked here, too, lately. You know, of course, that this pummeling is designed to soften and tenderize your body and facilitate the absorption of the language and culture. Your mother and I, however, that your body alive, so take better care of yourself.
We miss you,
Su padre
my life my life has been absolutely amazing due to the somewhat-recent aquisition of the most amazing boyfriend in the universe (this saturday is our 1 month). Even I was suprised by how fast things got so serious with us. Umm...but yes, its also lonely because he's been gone at camps and the like pretty much all summer. And there is a general lack of Kelsey-ness which has been painful for the majority of the school year and still is in need of relief.
